Anything people pick up from the store is automatically added to their virtual cart. Amazon is innovating the future of retail and it has somehow introduced Amazon Go. In the past couple of years, Amazon has made some usual moves. According to the data, more than 91% of the US customers spending are found on physical store and people there prefer to go and buy whatever they want. Recently, size of the online retail is around 409.2 billion dollars and offline retail is 4.5 trillion dollars. The Amazon Go store is a new kind of store that does not require any checkout and is cashier-less. It started with a small store of 1800 sq. feet space that grew into a big store that people love to visit. Customers visiting Amazon Go don't need to wait in long queues, all they have to do is download the application on their iOs and Android and enter the store after scanning the code. Customers enter, pick the product they want and just leave the store. The application is directly linked to the app, so whatever the customer chooses is added to the virtual cart, and billing is done through an Amazon account. Types of Amazon Go Stores In the US, currently, there are two types of Amazon Go stores operating. These are: 1. Amazon Go (that serves all sorts of eatable, lunch, and breakfast) 2. Amazon Go Grocery (containing household essentials, dinner, and ready-made food products) A similar kind of store is also opened in London famous as Amazon Fresh. As most of amazon's shopping works on online discount codes that convince people to try the product by saving money. The mechanism and innovation behind these stores are the self-driving cars technology i.e., deep learning, computer vision, and AI. With the help of these technologies, it is analyzed that the products are picked up and returned to the shelves or people have added them on their visual carts. Once the customer leaves the store, they are billed through their amazon account and sent a receipt. We have seen the era of POS machines, self-service machinery at a grocery store for more feasibility but the future will bring more stores where paying physically will no more be a part of retail stores.
