Madden 23 is inching nearer to us, and after much deliberation, EA has incorporates some huge adjustments to Franchise Mode. Fans seem to be pretty happy with the new features. So in this guide, we will show you all the adjustments to Franchise Mode in Madden 23.
Free Agency
The new free agency system will greatly enhance the franchise mode experience. One of the major changes in the work of free agents was the implementation of player motivation. In previous games, free agents signed with the team that offered the most money, but now there is more to convince players to sign. These conditions can vary from location, coach prestige, team composition, and more. All players will begin with a set of 3 Motivations, but with every year a player continues with a Franchise, these may update to better align with their current situation.
In addition, developers add new feature tags. These will give players motivations and goals for why they may want to sign somewhere beyond a salary. Labeling certain players based on individual achievement could drive up their market value and make them more attractive to other teams. For example, since Aaron Rodgers won the MVP last season, he has been given the “Award Winner” player tag.
New Free Agency Hub and Player Contracts
Free Agency HUB is another new Madden 23 feature. It allows players to place offers, compete against other teams, manage free agent signings, view player motivations and tags, and more. Each is displayed in order of importance and will carry either a positive, negative, or neutral status. There you will also find the player’s interest level in signing with your team.
Along with the new Free Agency Hub screen, there also added two additional new features that help support Free Agency revamp: Active Negotiations and Evaluations.
Active Negotiations limit the number of offers a team can have at one time. Adding more pressure by forcing you to choose which free agents need to be prioritized above others. Stage 1 only allows 5 Active Negotiations, Stage 2 only allows 10 Active Negotiations, and the final Stage 3 allows an unlimited amount.
While this is more limiting in the early stages, it is compensated for by the second feature, Evaluation. Within every week of Free Agency, 3 Eval Offers can be made; when triggered all offers are run allowing players to accept/decline contracts or not make a final decision without the need for the week to be advanced. This will give each team more opportunity to go back and forth with a player during negotiations and/or possibly allow you to change direction if you get feedback that the player is not interested in signing with you.
Last, you’ll be able to offer one of four basic contracts to free agents: team-friendly, player-friendly, neutral, and max offer. Each of these comes with certain advantages and disadvantages to the player and team.
For players who want to pinch madden 23 coins more often than throw them into the wind, Madden 23 will also feature a rollover cap for the first time. This interesting feature allows teams to carry over unused cap money from one year to the next, giving teams with low total salaries the ability to spend heavily in the upcoming offseason.
Scouting
Scouting has been re-tooled in the Madden 23 version of Franchise mode. For starters, more scouts have been added to the pool with much more positional expertise, allowing you to get information on players faster and crush your upcoming draft.
You’ll also be able to scout many positions at each offseason stage, allowing you to learn more about prospective players in a shorter period. Additionally, attribute reveals will be weighted in Madden 23 Franchise mode Scouting to better pertain to the player’s position. For example, instead of waiting to see what a QB prospect’s throw power or throw accuracy is in Madden 23. You will now receive these stats immediately upon scouting the player.
That’s everything you need to know about all the changes to Franchise Mode in Madden 23. Hopefully, these changes can bring some surprise this year and reassure frustrated players.
