Santorini may be the most renowned and popular spots in Greece among most people including my friends but that is not the case with me. I prefer to deviate from the usual and this is probably why I have fallen in love with Rhodes Island instead.
This love just grew bigger when I went for a quick visit to the area. And much to my delight, there are tons of exciting places to see that I have never imagined seeing even in my wildest dreams.
Allow me to share with you some of my favorite spots in Rhodes Island that I highly recommend to everyone visiting the area.
After we landed to the airport we used Rhodes airport transfers to take us to our hotel. We didn t lose time and get out immediately after we left our suitcases.
Rhodes Town
Nothing beats Rhodes Town when it comes to beauty and there is no surprise there. This town has been in existence for so many centuries, alleged to date as far back as the birth of Jesus Christ Himself.
And then there is the Old Town that doesn’t look old at all. The quaint tiny streets are booming with business but the quiet alleys are such a welcomed refuge.
The Acropolis of Rhodes is only a short distance away from the Old Town so I made sure to drop by there as well. The ruins may have already gone through restorations but it still felt like I traveled back in time, especially when I climbed the steps where the likes of Cicero and Julius Caesar attended their lectures.
Finally, even if the Colossus of Rhodes was long gone, Mandraki Harbor remains to be a delight in itself, making it a great spot for a stroll after a day of exploring the rest of the town.
Lindos Village
Found on the southern edge of the island is Lindos Village and from the top of the hill, you will have that satisfying view of the sparkling sea. I made sure to take a look around the Acropolis of Lindos and the ruins of the Temple of Athena.
Butterfly Valley
While I love the sea, I didn’t miss the chance to visit the mainland and one of its top attractions is none other than the Butterfly Valley. The place was so magical with all the plants, trees, and flowing streams. Since it was summer during my visit, the whole experience was even made more spectacular because of the sheer number of colorful butterflies filling up the place.
Seven Springs
Another one of the most captivating places in Rhodes Island is none other than Seven Springs. The scenery was the true epitome of natural beauty that I found myself feeling rejuvenated already even after a short walk.
Monolithos Castle
Monolithos Castle may no longer be used as a fortress that protects the island today but it is still a powerful and prominent structure in the place. The Mediterranean Sea looks stunning from here and it was such a delightful experience.
I used for all my transfers in Rhodes a reliable travel agency that I found with an internet research and saved a lot of money.
Saying that I have fallen head over heels in love with Rhodes Island is an understatement. But one thing is for sure, I’ll be coming back soon!
