When I was 15 years old I took my first ever pottery class from terra and ember. It was not an easy start for me as the clay stuck to my hands and it became very difficult for me to pick up even a piece of mud but before the end of that session, I got over all these hurdles.

You see, taking pottery classes is not only about the fact that you get to make something beautiful out of the earth but there are tons of other reasons too.

Reason 1: It is relaxing!

It doesn’t matter if your first pot breaks into pieces on the wheel or on the shelf, it is definitely going to be therapeutic for you. It takes away all your worries and stress and helps you to get a relaxed mind.

Reason 2: You can work on your own style!

While many people stick to the traditional ways of pottery, some artists use their own imagination and creativity to create unique forms of art. The best part about pottery classes is that you can experiment with your own styles and come up with something unique and beautiful.

Reason 3: It teaches you how to work with your hands!

If you are someone who is fond of working on projects with their hands, this is definitely the right hobby for you. You will be able to make unusual things like coasters, cups and bowls, and even plates if you choose the wheel as your medium.

Reason 4: You are not just losing weight but gaining something really useful!

Let’s be honest here, losing weight with pottery is the last thing on anyone’s mind. While you might think that it is a slow process, what with all that rolling and forming of clay required to make an actual good piece of art, the best thing is that your fingers will thank you!

Reason 5: Pottery is not just for adults but kids too!

Well, not all pottery classes are taught for children but there are some that are divided into 2 age groups; teenagers and adults. This gives them an opportunity to make something beautiful out of the earth while learning at the same time.

Reason 6: Not spending much time on it!

Well, this is not quite true when you are in the middle of making your own pottery but in the long run, it sure helps you to save some time in completing projects. You can make small pots with ease, all you need is a good imagination and creativity and you can complete your project quite easily.

Reason 7: It helps you to get a good job!

If you choose to take up this hobby as a career, it will surely increase your chances of getting hired in one of the best art colleges or other prestigious institutions where they pay almost around $900 for such courses. But you must keep in mind that you will be learning all these techniques and skills on your own and not in a pottery class!

So, when you take up this hobby, keep the above reasons in mind. It is definitely going to help you in making an informed decision.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, taking pottery classes is definitely going to be a good idea as it helps you in so many ways. If you are thinking of starting off on this hobby, make sure that you take the advice from an expert and follow all safety measures as well!
