Production on the second season of Legacies was suspended in March amid the coronavirus outbreak. At the time, The CW said that Episode 16, “Facing Darkness Is Kinda My Thing” — which aired on March 26 and saw Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) journey into the fairy-tale world of Josie’s (Kaylee Bryant) subconscious — would be the spring finale and that Legacies would finish out Season 2 once production would be able to resume. And while we still don’t know when we’ll see the end of Legacies Season 2, The CW announced on May 14 when the show will return for Season 3. Click here to know more.
While Legacies typically debuts new seasons in October, Season 3 of Legacies will premiere in January 2021. The new season of Legacies will air Thursdays at 9/8c, following Jared Padalecki’s new drama Walker.
When Legacies shut down production, there were still four episodes of Season 2 to complete, including the anticipated musical episode. It’s unknown right now whether those episodes will air in the fall prior to Season 3’s midseason debut or not.
All The Vampire Diaries and The Originals Easter Eggs in Legacies Season 2
While it will likely be quite some time before we find out why Hope never woke up after entering Josie’s mind and whether Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) will ever resurrect again, Episode 16 still gave us a ton to think about over this unexpected hiatus, regardless of how long it lasts. Legacies is available to stream on Netflix. Season 3 will premiere in winter 2021 on The CW.
