Rhonda and Iris were roaming about in the garden..they were talking about how their parents have become weak and how they wanted them to shift to their houses so that they could keep an eye on them. Rhonda and Iris agreed that now they need to be a little more careful about their parents as they are growing old by the day..so, they offered their parents to shift at their houses because they were worried about them..but the parents disagreed that they never wanted to be a burden on their kids. .also, they wanted to live the last of their lives independently and happily.
Both Rhonda and Iris cleared their parents that they were not a burden, they said that they love their parents and they just wanted to take care of them..in fact, the grandchildren were very excited that their grandparents were going to live with them..but, the parents willfully denied..they said that they would love to see them twice or thrice a week but they just couldn’t accept the offer of them living at their children’s house.
Rhonda and Iris had to reluctantly agree with their parents as they were unwilling to shift..but both of them made a pact that they would drop by to visit every day after work..someone or the other would surely take a glance at their parents..be it them or their wives or their children..anyone. So they agreed to this idea and headed towards the dinner table where they enjoyed a hearty meal with their parents.
For the next month, both Rhonda and Iris visited their parent’s house to check up on their health..which obviously made their parents happy more than ever..but one day, Iris got really late..she came running to her parent’s house and saw her parents playing with the neighbor’s pet..they were so happy to play with it..they enjoyed its company.
Iris kept on wondering about her parent’s smile..she couldn’t help but feel sad that she wasn’t the one making them smile..she couldn’t shake off the feeling that they are alone and well, exposed to danger..but she also knew that she could not force her parents to live with her..she couldn’t stand the fact that they are absolutely alone. Iris went ahead with a straight face and talked to her parents as if nothing was wrong, but she was truly upset. Just then, Iris came up with a plan which she decided to implement the very same night..for which she called Rhonda.
Iris and Rhonda then visited their parents again that night..but this time they had another member of their family in their hands..a bearded dragon..their parents got so happy to see the reptile as they loved one already in their neighborhood..both the girls got so happy to see their parents happy..but Rhonda was worried about the pet’s upkeep as their parents were pretty old..to which Iris replied that it was very low maintenance.. It could eat things like bananas, strawberries, parsley, celery, etc. “Is celery good for bearded dragons?” Rhonda asked..to which Iris replied that it certainly was.
Both of them were very happy to see their parents happy and busy with the pet..they even named him Nelson and treated him like a son.
