UEFA EURO 2020: The 2020 European Football Championship was delayed by a year this time due to the coronavirus pandemic. The official first of the event today is June 11th.
Today on Friday, June 11, Google has marked the beginning of UEFA EURO 2020 by creating a doodle. Google has wished all the competing teams through a doodle. The championship has started with the first match between Turkey and Italy in Rome’s biggest sports event.
UEFA has been a major tournament for football fans around the world since 1960. This year, for the first time in history, 51 matches of the tournament will be held in host cities across Europe. The tournament will be held in 11 cities across 11 UEFA countries.
The 2020 European Football Championship was delayed by a year this time due to the coronavirus pandemic. The official Friday of the event took place from the first match today, June 11. The championship was originally scheduled from June 12 to July 12, 2020. Then it was rescheduled from June 12 to July 12, 2021. However, the tournament name ‘UEFA EURO 2020’ has been retained.
Most of the 11 venues located in different countries will partially allow spectators for matches in the wake of COVID-19. However, Denmark announced on Thursday that it would remove the mask rules and allow 25,000 spectators to attend the match in Copenhagen.
