Egyptians were the first who used to wear perfume. Since then, there has been so much choice available now for women who want to smell good. Cologne, eau de toilette, body sprays; they are all out there in every variation. Also, each of them, made through perfume bottle manufacturers, is vying for your attention.
Product presentation and marketing have become important for a custom glass bottles manufacturer, as the bottles being are now a major selling point. However, what’s the usage of a nice-looking bottle if the scent doesn’t live up to the expectations?
Fragrance Concentration
When you buy perfume, you must understand the glaring difference between concentrates available. Eau de cologne is among the least concentrated and thus the inexpensive alternative.
Eau de cologne is followed by eau de toilette, Eau de parfum, and finally, the most concentrated and the most expensive by far; the parfum.
The price difference reflects the amount of perfume required to enjoy the fragrance at its best. Of course, eau de cologne is among those that say ‘spray it all over’ style type of fragrance. Whereas, perfume is highly concentrated and needs only a handful of drops to get the same effect.
Individual Scent
Always remember that just because a particular fragrance smells nice on your friend, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll smell equally as good on you.
We each have our own body chemistry based on skin type, hair color, and other genetic factors but what most people don’t realize is that our lifestyle and the environment we live in also affect how fragrance reacts to our skin.
When buying a new fragrance, always try it on your own skin before making a purchase. Spray it on the inside of your wrist and then wait for at least five minutes for the scent to develop. Hopefully, you’ll like it, otherwise, you’ll have to come back another day with clean wrists and try again.
How Much To Apply
As mentioned already, the form of fragrance you buy will determine how much it will be required to apply. However, still quite a few tend to wear too much and make others feel overpowered by their perfume.
This is true especially on older women whose sense of scent has started to reduce. However, it is also the case among younger ladies who aren’t used to wearing fragrances. They apply and re-apply, when they can no longer smell it.
It takes the human nose about five minutes to absorb and get used to a scent; after that, the brain no longer registers it. Remember, the job of your brain is to alert you to something that ‘doesn’t belong’. So, a scent that has been with you for five minutes without invoking a reaction is not dangerous. Others who just have happened upon us will smell the perfume even though we can’t so. Therefore, don’t overdo it.
A majority of fragrances are made to last for nearly four hours or so. Thus, you shouldn’t re-apply as soon as you dispense noticing the smell. So, it is perfectly acceptable to re-apply once during the day and in the evening again.
Unless you go to take bath, always stick with the same scent during a day as mixing never works.
How Many Perfumes?
The type of fragrance we are attracted to inclines to change with the seasons. Thus, a perfume you applied during summer might not smell during winter.
It is recommended to get a perfume for each of the four seasons, each for spring, summer, autumn, and winter will suffice.
Test various fragrances during all seasons to get the one that suits you.
Storing Perfume
While no scent or fragrance can last forever, most have a life of about three years starting from the manufacturing date. Remember! The date of manufacture is different from the date you bought the fragrance.
So, if you’re spending more on your perfume, you need to check when it was produced. The reason is you should need to buy from reputable outlets or quality department stores.
Proper perfume storage help in lengthening the life of your fragrance. Also, the most essential rule being that it’s stored in a dry and dark place instead of on your dressing table.
While the refrigerator is an adequate place for Eau de toilettes and Eau de colognes, especially as they badly react when exposed to high temperatures; perfume must be avoided to be stored in a cold environment. A dry and dark box is best.
Last Note
Once you get the fragrance that suits you, stick with it. Trends will come and go while new perfumes will arrive in the shops every day; however, unless you discontinue your choice, sticking with it will give you a hallmark scent. A fragrance that will help recognize you.
