The New York Giants is an American professional football team mainly based in the New York metro area. The Giants play in the National Football League’s Eastern Division, a division of the NFL. They are one of the most popular teams among fans of the sport. The Giants are also part of the L.A. Lakers of the National Basketball League. This is their second straight season in the playoffs.

Quarterback: Every year the New York Giants draft either a quarterback, or a wide receiver, but never both. This is due to the fact that they lack on both the offensive and defensive lines. Guard is what they really need. Entertainer Vince Young has been given every opportunity to prove himself in the NFL, but he has not been able to do so. Coach Tom Coughlin is looking for a vet who knows how to play the position and is aggressive on the field.

Defensively, the Giants are mediocre at best. They do not have a number 1 overall safety and have only two average corners on their team (rialist Stevemyshek and rookie James Jones). Corner is one of the positions that could bring about the most excitement for New York Giants fans this year. Newly signed nose tackle Linus Mathis will start at either outside and inside corner and should help his team win the shutdown battles this season. Running Backs The New York Giants has never had a good running back to start their own game, until this year. Newly signed Frank Gore will be a fine choice as the starter and hopefully a bright spot for the Giants on offense. He is one of the better runners in the league and his skills should be utilized correctly by the coaching staff. Center Eric Mangini is a nice addition to the Giants running game, but he is perhaps better suited as an interior blocker than an on the outside. Guarded by Jasoniflett, a strong pass rushers, the Giants do not have much of a running attack.

Defensively, the Giants do not have one of the better defenses in football. They are perhaps even worse on offense than they are on the defensive side of things. They are bottom five in yards allowed per game and only average to above mediocre on that side of the ball. Cornerbacks Corner has always been a great position to draft in recent years because of the value that it holds, but this year none of the top defensive prospects has lived up to expectations thus far.

Tight End Expect the New York Giants to continue using a great tight end like Rob Gronkowski. He will be the focal point of the passing game and will score a great deal of touchdowns. Expect more tight end depth with the additions of rookies Trellick and Hakeem Olaju. Both are talented tight ends that can contribute to the passing game. Neither is a lock to make a great final roster.

Line If you have read some of my articles in the past you know that I am not big on defense. That is not to say I don’t think a good offense is a good idea. But I don’t see the Giants being a power offense any time soon. That would force them to put a lot on the line, and that might get them into trouble. It also makes them turnover the ball too often, which is never good.

Overall I feel that the New York Giants still hasn’t found their identity. They have one good receiver (Bobby Miles) and two or three decent offensive lines. There is no way they are going to take the next step without a franchise quarterback. Until they do there will be little hope for their defense. Please give them a chance.
