One can conveniently charge your electric vehicle from charging station at home or on the move just like you charge your mobile phones and use electrical appliances. It is also estimated that almost 80 per cent of Electric vehicle charging station manufacturers charge their electric car batteries overnight at home, at work and can also be charged on the go, ensuring that the network is sufficient for Electric vehicles, electric charging stations and electric charging points.
Types of charging stations-
Usually EV chargers fall under one of three major categories that are charging stations of level 1, charging stations of level 2 and Quick Chargers of level 3.
• Level 1 EV charging station is a station that can be connected to a regular outlet using a 120 V AC connection. Unlike other loaders, level 1 loaders need no additional equipment to be mounted. Typically, these chargers deliver a range of two to five miles per hour and are most frequently used at home.
• Level 2 EV charging stations are used for commercial and residential purpose and they cannot be plugged into standard wall outlet unlike the level 1 charger. They are usually built by a professional electrician and these can also be mounted inside the solar panel system.
• Level 3 EV charging Station can offer you charging 60 percent in 20 minutes. However, they are normally used in commercial and industrial applications and for installation and maintenance they require highly advanced, high-speed machine.
Time taken to charge electric vehicle from charging station-
• Domestic plug recharging in a standard household socket 8 to10 hours:
Recharging with a normal household can take up to 10 hours in general with a 230v socket and the auxiliary cables and equipment provided by the manufacturer. Household charging is the most suitable way for day-to-day use.
• Normal home charge point takes 4 to 6 hours:
A charging station can be mounted at home for domestic electric vehicles. It’s available at a premium, but charge time is almost half reduced. This makes the approach simplest and easiest to implement.
• Semi fast charging in 1-2 hours:
Major companies with large fleets of electric cars are building efficient electric car charging points. They usually also have three- phase loops which reduces the charge time significantly compared to normal loading at home.
• Speedy loading at electric stations:
It is the fastest way to load a car.The time of charge ranges from 30 minutes to 1 hour. An electric battery can be charged 80 percent in half hour with a very efficient charging device. Tesla now provides a terminal that allows a battery to be charged in a matter of minutes.
Charging your vehicle is a simple procedure as you just need to plug your vehicle in an electric grid adapter but it is not same at all types of electrical vehicle charging station manufacturers.
Most can quickly be installed by plugging into a normal wall socket, while others need to be mounted separately. The time it takes to charge your car varies depending on your charger.
