The Honor 9X Pro is a special phone in various ways from Honor mobiles. For starters, it is the last smartphone that was released after Google’s infamous ban on Huawei. The 9X Pro features the Android OS and Google Mobile Services, including Play Store, Google Maps, Gmail, and others. What makes it more intriguing is its low price and side-mounted fingerprint reader.
A pop-up camera and full-screen display make the Honor 9X Pro an ideal pick on the market. This is an affordable smartphone from Huawei mobiles and features modest specs. If you are thinking to buy this budget Android phone, read our detailed review.

As highlighted, the Honor 9X Pro is a heart-throbbing choice among budget mobiles. Its large display, camera setup, and balanced hardware are the forefront features.
Design & Build
Obviously, there are some similarities between the Honor 9X and 9X Pro. But the later has some design changes that make it look more elegant. It features an all-glass rear side instead of plastic whereas the sides have a matte finish.
The Honor 9X Pro comes with a notch-less display design, thanks to the pop-up camera. The top also bears the hybrid SIM tray for a nano-SIM and microSD card. At the right side, there are volume buttons and underneath them is the power button. The fingerprint scanner is synced with the power button for quick unlocking. The left side bears no buttons or frills.
Below the display, there is a 3.5mm jack to connect wired headphone. Next to it is a USB-C port, which does not support fast charging. Still, it is a nice addition to such a budget smartphone. Next to it is the mono speaker grill, which we did not find entertaining during our Honor 9X Pro review.
Honor 9X Pro Display Review
Coming to the display, the device features a 6.59-inch large full-screen. This is an IPS-equipped display with full HD resolution and LCP panel. This is a surprising choice since most budget mobiles now feature OLED panels. Nonetheless, we received good results during our review.
While we were streaming Netflix on the Honor 9X Pro, we obtained rich colours with sharp details. The white balance was great while the gaming visuals were crispy. We did not experience lags or flickering while playing PUBG on this affordable smartphone.
Camera Setup
For those who have a knack for over-the-top features, the 9X Pro has something special. This is one of the few budget smartphones that feature a pop-up front camera (16MP). Of course, it takes some time to open, but offers impressive colour accuracy. You may not get an instant selfie but will surely get a colourful portrait for social media.
At the rear, there is a triple-cam setup, including a 48MP main, a 2MP depth, and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. The main lens captures bright images with detail, and we found its results satisfactory in daylight. Whereas its 2MP depth lens takes excellent portraits with bokeh effects.
Hardware Selection & Performance
The specification of Honor 9X Pro is on the modest side. It packs the Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 810 chipset, which can run most modern games at default settings. This is a decent mid-range chip with 2.6GHz clock speed. The integrated Mali-G52 MP6 graphics ensure power-efficient performance even when you are playing demanding mobile games, such as PUBG.
Moreover, there is a 6GB RAM which is blended with 256GB of storage. This is a decent selection which you may not find in under £250 mobiles. As we mentioned earlier, the 9X Pro runs on the Android 9.0 with EMUI 9.1. So, you can enjoy all the Google Mobile Services and download all the fun apps from Play Store.
Coming to the battery life, the Honor 9X Pro packs a sizable battery. It comes with 4,000mAh capacity and we found it enough for a long day. However, the lack of fast-charging feature is a bummer as it tools almost 2 hours to full.
Final Thoughts
The Honor 9X Pro is an idyllic pick from budget smartphones. It packs modest hardware with a pop-up camera and full-screen display. For an average user with basic needs, this is an exceptional choice that comes with long battery life. However, if you want to go through more options, browse our full range at Laptop Outlet.
