How Long Do I Have To Live in California Before Citizenship?

To become a naturalized United States citizen in California you must have lived in the state for a minimum of three (3) months.

How Can I Become A Citizen Of The United States In California?

The legal permanent resident must first complete and submit the N-400 Form to USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services). Then guide them with whole process with citizenship exam. The naturalization exam assesses English skills in reading, writing, and speaking. The exam also includes a civics examination part in which the USCIS asks ten (10) questions. Six (6) correct answers equals a passing score. It should be noted that in California, the applicant may be able to get fingerprinted at any of the state’s immigration offices.

The expense for naturalization is $640, plus an additional $85 for fingerprinting (biometrics). It should be noted that applicants 75 and older are exempt from paying the fingerprinting charge. Military personnel pay no fee if they file under INA sections 328 or 329.6.
