The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer recently launched the BS6 Stage 2-compliant Suzuki Avenis 125. Most of the two- and four-wheeler manufacturers have started preparing for the upcoming RDE (real driving emissions) norms. For your reference, these stage two norms will be implemented from April 1, 2023, onwards. With these technical updates, the engine output hasn’t been revised. It’s the same as before.
However, the Suzuki Avenis is positioned between the Suzuki Access 125 and the Suzuki Burgman Street 125. There is hardly a price difference between these three scooters. The starting price of the Access and the Avenis is Rs 79,400 and Rs 92,000, respectively. Similarly, the Suzuki Burgman Street has a starting price of Rs 93,000. All are ex-showroom prices, Delhi, as of March 2023.
In terms of sales, the Suzuki Access is among the top-selling Suzuki scooters in the country.
Besides that, this scooter has a low engine output, and less power means less fuel consumption, due to which, a vehicle becomes more fuel efficient.
So, let’s see what updates did the 2023 Suzuki Avenis receive, especially apart from the updated engine.
Engine and other Specifications
The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer built the Suzuki Avenis 125 on Suzuki’s in-house-designed steel tubular frame, which makes the Avenis more rugged and manoeuvrable, especially around the corners. Besides that, this scooter is powered by a 124.3cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which is tuned to churn out 8.58 bhp at 6750 rpm and 10 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm. Like other scooters, the Suzuki Avenis 125 is also coupled with a CVT gearbox.
With this engine output, you can expect impressive mileage from this scooter. The ARAI-certified mileage of the Suzuki Avenis 125 is 49.6 km/l. But, as it suggests, that’s a claimed mileage and that can vary with individuals’ riding styles and the local traffic conditions. The actual fuel efficiency of the Suzuki Avenis 125 is 54.5 km/l. It is worth noting that this is an average mileage, based on the feedback from the owners. You can check out the Avenis price on the autoX website.
As mentioned before, this scooter’s mileage might impress you, which it did. It can slew the running costs and you can easily make interstate journeys without worrying about your pockets getting pinched. Speaking of fuel, this scooter stores its fuel in a 5.2-litre fuel tank. That said, it should deliver a good range as well. Had it been a large fuel tank, especially like Burgman Street, it would have delivered more range. For your reference, a vehicle with a large fuel tank will offer more range than a vehicle with a small fuel tank. Given the Avenis 125 price, it shouldn’t let you complain about the engine performance.
Moreover, like all other BS6 two-wheelers, this scooter also has fuel injection technology. Thanks to this state-of-the-art tech that has resulted in removing all the conventional problems. Just so you know, the central government of India ordered all the two-wheeler manufacturers to use that technology in their BS6 engines. Thanks to its controlled fuel supply system, it makes the two-wheeler fuel efficient. In addition, you also have a look at Suzuki bikes that are also fuel efficient in nature.
At the same time, it won’t result in lags, especially during cold starts. Moreover, if you are riding uphill and that too, riding at low revs, it won’t make your two-wheeler jerky either. It also offers a clean fuel supply system, as a result, it makes the two-wheeler less polluting.
Keeping the engine performance aside, the Suzuki Avenis 125 has the same suspension setup as the Suzuki Burgman Street. It has a telescopic suspension at the front and a swing arm suspension at the rear. These locally-produced bikes are engineered by keeping the conditions of Indian roads in mind. That said, its suspension may feel soft, as Indian-spec vehicles can offer better comfort if they are equipped with a soft suspension. And, this type of suspension can easily encounter undulations and absorb the bumps from potholes like a cakewalk. To get a detailed insight into its rideability, and too, a comparison with its direct rival, you should check out the TVS Ntorq vs Suzuki Avenis 125 comparison on the autoX website.
You can think of doing interstate journeys on this scooter, though. This scooter shouldn’t make your ownership undervalued, as it can offer impressive mileage and flawless comfort, and that too, at an affordable price.
Now, keeping safety in mind, the Suzuki Avenis 125 has a combined braking system (CBS), which increases safety. During an emergency braking, the CBS safety feature will prevent the two-wheeler from skidding and making a stoppie. Further, braking duties are taken care of by disc-drum brakes. This is the standard setup across the variants. But, two-wheeler with disc brakes and CBS will always have superior traction and braking performance. Moreover, you can also get more grip with CBS, especially around the corners. Having said that, the Suzuki Avenis 125 has a tyre profile of 90/90 R12 at the front and 90/100 R10 at the rear. On both ends, you get the width of the tyre but with different aspect ratios. You can get the detailed specifications sheet of this two-wheeler or any other vehicle on autoX.
Features
The Suzuki Avenis 125 has a fully digital instrument cluster, which displays relevant readings, such as the tripmeter, tachometer, odometer, and speedometer. It also has a digital fuel gauge, a clock, and indicators for low engine oil, low fuel level and low battery. Given the Suzuki Avenis price, it has a long list of features.
Apart from these convenient features, the Avenis 125 also offers a front storage box, under-seat storage, and a pillion seat with footrests and grabrails. Other notable offerings comprise a USB charging port, GPS and navigation, a killswitch, a pass light, a standing alarm, and kick and electric start. As for exterior illumination, the Avenis 125 has LED DRLs, paired with LED headlights and LED brake- and tail lights. However, the turn signals have halogen bulbs. Speaking of lights, this scooter misses out on auto headlights.
Prices and Variants
The Japanese bikemaker sells this 125cc scooter in two variants: Standard and Race Edition. The Suzuki Avenis 125 price starts at Rs 92,000 for the Standard variant and goes up to Rs 92,300 for the top model, the Race Edition. All are ex-showroom prices, New Delhi, as of March 2023.
