The IRCC has announced an extension by 2 years to visitor’s visa conversion to open work permit which would have expired today!
Since 2020, people who are temporarily visiting Canada can change their status to work permits so they can work in Canada and this directive would have expired today. However, this has been extended to 2025.
What this means is that from now till 2025 if you’re an international student or real estate investor for example and your spouse visits on a visitor’s visa, they can change that to an open work permit. Always refer to IRCC website for further clarification.
