Douglasville, Georgia Wednesday 10-31-23 – On Wednesday, October 25th, the New Manchester High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter played host to the “Funding the Future” initiative at the NMHS Theater.
“Funding the Future,” a distinguished 501(c)(3) organization, is renowned for its dedication to imparting essential financial principles to students. Their approach involves coordinating live musical performances in educational settings nationwide, fostering meaningful conversations about financial literacy between students and accomplished musicians. Throughout the event, a wide range of topics were thoughtfully covered, including the importance of maintaining healthy credit scores, prudent strategies for avoiding unnecessary debt, steering clear of high-risk online lenders and other financial pitfalls, the perils associated with predatory lending and payday loans, devising a robust financial savings and investment plan, as well as the significance of setting goals and pursuing one’s dreams.
New Manchester High School was privileged to collaborate with “Funding the Future” in their mission to promote financial education. Notably the event featured a special appearance by national recording artist, Carter Hulsey. Mr. Hulsey and his band journeyed all the way from Nashville, Tennessee, to grace the audience with their music and to impart valuable insights on financial literacy. “We find it important for our fellow classmates to know as much as possible about finances because in a world where numbers speak louder than words, financial literacy becomes the universal language of empowerment.” Said Kossivi Edoh The New Manchester High School FBLA Chapter President. “I’d like to thank Ms. Benton, Dr.Thomas and Ms.

The event garnered considerable support, with the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office generously sponsoring the show, further underscoring the importance of financial education for today’s youth.
