Linen is a well-liked sustainable fabric. All thanks to its durability and capacity to remove moisture from the body. With each wash, linen becomes softer and more absorbent. For those who wish to buy more responsibly and safeguard the environment, buy linen online. It is an excellent choice that complements every style and occasion. Although, some people stay clear of it because of the high upkeep required.

The strength of linen, however, is also somewhat of a weakness. Perspiration causes creases to crease more deeply and linen remains wrinkled until laundered. When handled properly, linen will become one of your go-to clothing choices in every season. Be it casual dressing or luxury bedding, linen fits your living perfectly well, particularly during the warmer months. There is a great confusion about whether to wash a linen product or to dry clean it. Let’s try to figure it out here.

How to wash a linen dress?

  • Go Through Instructions

It is highly recommended to check the care guide or instruction tag on a linen dress thoroughly before washing it. Live Linen makes sure the care methods are mentioned so that customers don’t need to worry. Many linen dresses are blended rather than using 100% pure linen. That’s why it frequently calls for specific maintenance.

  • Dark Wash Separately

Wash your bold or dark-coloured linen dresses separately.  Try to use cold water for washing these clothes. When cleaned with other goods, dark-coloured linen may get discoloured or fade. Furthermore, when you wash your linen dress, be sure to flip it inside out, zip any zippers, and button any buttons.

  • Be Mild

Use a mild detergent or liquid wash for washing linen sheets or garments. Only wash a few linen dresses at a time if using a washing machine. Don’t overfill the machinery. Go with the highest fill level, making sure to wash and rinse the linen clothes well. Dresses made of linen can be washed alongside cotton clothing of a similar hue.

Point to be noted: –

It is not advisable to hang pure linen dresses after washing them. Put them flat on a clothes rack to prevent the fabric from stretching. You may hang the bedsheet or outfit once it has dried about halfway.

Should linen be washed or dry cleaned?

Wash

The most practical method for de-wrinkling and cleaning linen is machine washing. Though you need to be quite careful with this. For instance, only cool water should be used to wash pure linen. Warm water can loosen the fabric’s fibres and cause shrinkage. Compared to machine washing, hand washing has two advantages. It is easier to manage the temperature and agitates the linen more gently. However, rinsing poses one of the largest challenges when washing by hand. If done improperly, it can stretch and deform an item made of linen.

Dry clean

To find out how to best wash the item, you should always consult the care label on the clothing. It is uncommon to encounter linen with a label that reads “dry clean only,” but it does happen.

However, you may still dry clean the item if “dry clean only” is not indicated on the label. Dry-washing has the benefit of preventing agitation and hot water exposure to the linen. Your linen clothing returns to you neat, crisp, and free of any visible creases.

In the end, it all depends on the type and quality of linen that is suitable for washing or dry cleaning. So you may choose to go as per the suggestion of the instruction guide. Our collection of Oeko-Tex Certified linen is flexible for both. Check it out now..!
