What Is a Garden Water Sprayer?
A garden water sprayer is a watering tool that is also commonly used to apply lawn care products such as fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides or insecticides. Because it is convenient, lightweight, and can be used with minimal contact with plant care products, a garden sprayer is a tool that many gardeners keep on hand.
Types of Garden Sprayers
There are four types of water sprayers:
Hose-end lawn sprayer. This type of sprayer is somewhat similar to a hose nozzle and is also installed at the end of a garden hose for use. The difference is that it has a container underneath the nozzle to hold the chemicals that need to be sprayed. A hose lawn sprayer is a good choice for gardeners who already have a garden hose or have a large lawn.
Handheld sprayer. This is better for smaller areas. To use, mix water and product directly in a good proportion and add to the sprayer tank to spray. A handheld sprayer is also good for watering some small plants evenly.
Backpack sprayer. As the name suggests, this type of sprayer is carried on the back to be used. It is easy to carry and with the long nozzle, it is great for spraying and watering large areas.
Wheeled lawn sprayer. A wheeled lawn sprayer is a tank mounted on a frame with wheels that makes it easy to move around the yard. This type is suitable for oversized areas.
Garden Water Sprayer Features
-The size of the capacity. Sprayer containers can range from 1L to 20L, this is to meet different sizes of watering needs at once.
-Weight and ease of transport. Regardless of the style and size of the sprayer, it is important to consider whether the gardener can still easily move it when it is full of liquid. Backpack sprayers tend to make it easier, but can interfere with the gardener’s activities when wearing them. Smaller handheld tank sprayers are not as heavy, but require more frequent refills.
-Adjustable application rate. This feature refers to the optionality of how much lawn care product is added to the water and should be applied at the rate strictly stated in the instructions for the different agents.
-Anti-clog filter. This helps keep the sprayer flow steady, even if there is debris in the sprayer.
How To Choose Garden Water Sprayer
The size of the sprayed area is the main consideration.
For flowers, weeds, or any small area, a handheld sprayer is usually sufficient for daily watering needs. For caring for small potted plants in an indoor garden, even smaller spray bottles are available. The smaller the spray area, the less waste you will have by using a smaller volume sprayer.
For a yard or larger lawn area. A wheeled or backpack lawn sprayer is easy to carry around in the area you want to cover.
Another factor that should be considered when choosing the right watering sprayer is the frequency of application. If the application is infrequent and regular, then a high volume sprayer may be better. They can be used with more chemicals added at once to fully complete the spraying task.
Safety Tips for Using Garden Sprayer
-Make sure the sprayer is not leaking.
-Wear gloves to avoid direct contact with chemicals on the skin.
-Separate equipment used to mix lawn care products from other equipment used in home.
-Some products are hazardous to health, make sure people and pets are kept away from the area for a certain amount of time.
