Your skin is the largest living, breathing organ on your body. Up to sixty percent of what you apply on your skin gets absorbed into your bloodstream, which then gets circulated around your whole body. But if you knew what toxins non-organic skin care products contained, you would think twice before you use it. So it is no surprise to see more and more people switching to best natural skin care products.
If you are still using non-organic products, it is time to reconsider:
- Go through the ingredients label of any organic skin care product. You would probably recognize most, if not all of the items there. Certified organic products are derived from plants and other naturally occurring ingredients. More significantly, those organic ingredients are grown without the use of herbicides, pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and other additives or chemicals. With that, you can be sure your skin and body absorb only real, natural ingredients that are not harmful.
- Pick any non-organic skin care product and read its ingredients label. Non-organic skin care products contain synthetic, man-made chemicals such as mineral oils, sodium laurel, laureth sulphate, and toxins that could be residues of pesticides. Studies have also found that they can contain petroleum, mineral oil, parabens, and other chemicals that, with long term use, can cause hormone imbalance, skin irritation, organ toxicity, and cancer.
- Plants grown organically are found to have a higher level of vital antioxidant vitamins than non-organic plants. Because they are grown without herbicides and pesticides, their organic ingredients are also free from that infectivity, which means the same for your skin and body. Moreover, up to 95% of an organic skin care product’s contents are active ingredients. In synthetic skin care products, in contrast, active ingredients only make up 5 to 10% of its contents.
- Without harsh chemicals, organic skin care products are less likely to cause allergic reactions, inflammations or irritations. If an allergic reaction does take place with the use of organic products, it would most likely be because of a natural ingredient, which would be simpler to identify.
- Because natural body care products use naturally grown ingredients that are devoid of toxic pesticides and fertilizers, they do not leave a harmful footprint on the planet, particularly the soil, water, and air. Organic farming is also better for wildlife, causes lesser pollution from pesticide and fertilizer sprays, and produces less carbon dioxide and less dangerous wastes. By using organic skin care products, you are helping to reduce your environmental impact and support the sustainability of environment.
If you are looking to go natural with your skin care routine, know there is no a one-size-fits-all approach. Brands can call their cosmetics whatever they want under the “natural” umbrella, so be sure to do your research.
While several major cosmetic companies claim to be cruelty-free, they are using principles that have resulted from animal testing. So, while they might not be directly responsible for harming laboratory animals, they are still benefiting from earlier studies that did. Most natural cosmetics brands that are vegan and cruelty-free do not conduct any animal tests. There is no need to when you are using ingredients that come from pure, natural sources, with no harmful additives.
More active ingredients in the product also mean good value for money, since you are not paying for fillers that do absolutely nothing for you. Active ingredients usually only make up about 10% of synthetic skincare products since there is a legal limit to how many chemicals you can include in these products.
Since their products are totally risk-free, natural cosmetics producers can cram as much goodness as possible into every bottle or tube without fear of harmful side effects. So, you will use less of the product to get the results you need too.
