1. Building a cardboard boat competition

Divide into teams and use only the cardboard and tape given to construct a cardboard boat. Team members must collaborate to design a boat that can sail and float over water without sinking.

Before putting their boats to the test, teams that have finished building them will present why their boat is the best. Then, teams will race their boats in the final challenge to see how durable they are! Making sure you don’t fall into the water is the definition of problem-solving, after all!

2. Egg Drop

You are required to make innumerable daily decisions at work, whether they are extremely significant or so minor you hardly give them a second thought.

But making wise selections is essential to working efficiently and rapidly through issues.

That’s just what your team will learn to do with a well-known problem-solving practice for team building called the Egg Drop.

For this exercise, you’ll need some eggs, building supplies, and a surface you don’t mind getting covered with eggshells and yolks.

Making a device to enclose an egg and shield it from a fall from a height or from the top of a building is the objective of this project. But the problem is that you and your team will only have a little time to develop it before it needs to be put to the test, so you’ll need to act quickly!

You’ll have to construct the casing using just explicit materials, such as:

  • Newspapers
  • Straws
  • Tape
  • Polythene wrap
  • Balloons
  • elastic bands
  • ice-pop sticks
  • Tarps \feathers
  • Cotton spheres

Feel free to select the materials playfully. Use whatever you believe will be useful, but avoid being too accommodating!

Before each team drops their eggs, give your group 15 minutes to build their egg casing. If more than one egg survives, gradually increase the height to determine who built the strongest structure.

If using eggs for this exercise makes you uncomfortable, think about using a different breakable object instead, such as light bulbs, for a vegan Egg Drop experience.

3. The Clue Murder Mysteries

Your team’s task in Clue Murder Mystery will be to determine who had the tools, reason, and chance to commit the murder of Neil Davidson.

It will be complex, though! Suppose you want to prevent this case from becoming cold and bring justice to the victim. In that case, you’ll need to use your finest problem-solving techniques and tap into your inner detective.

 4. Marshmallow Spaghetti Tower

Collaboration is essential to solving problems.

Why? As the proverb says, the whole is larger than the sum of its parts. This sentence captures the idea that people can accomplish more when cooperating.

It is a great problem-solving activity for team development that also fosters collaboration.

Building the largest freestanding tower possible with only marshmallows, uncooked spaghetti, tape, and string is the object of this game, played in teams.

The real deal? All of this must be completed in the allocated time. We advise allotting thirty minutes.

Try placing a marshmallow atop the tower to add a new difficulty level by making the structure too heavy.

The winning side will have the highest tower when the clock runs out.

5. Business Escape Room

If you have yet to play an escape room,  your group is missing out. Because it places you and your coworkers in a circumstance where the only way out is through cooperatively solving riddles and deciphering clues, it is one of the most effective team-building problem-solving activities available.

The basic idea is to lock your group in a room, hide the key somewhere in the room, and give them a deadline to complete challenges. Each obstacle will get them closer to the key and, eventually, their escape.
