If you read what I’ve written above you may be wondering why masks are so important. I have to admit, it does seem a bit strange, doesn’t it? Wearing masks has never been the most accepted thing in human history; yet, we all have to wear some kind of mask from time to time. In order for us humans to function in society, we need to follow certain rules. This can be perceived as wearing a ‘social mask’.
Mask comes from Latin maschera, a mask for hiding the face, or Italian maschera, from which we also get mascara. Mascara is an ancient word; its root is found in Asia Minor around 3000 B.C., where it referred to a term of respect that early priests were called by. The history of masks date back at least as far as Ancient Egypt (maybe even before), while the custom of wearing masks to hide the identity of a human dates back to pre-Christian times in Rome and seven-helmeted Asia Minor, according to Strabo in his Geography, though some scholars have suggested that it might be a custom older than civilization itself.
To Keep You Safe
A Medical Masking System is a simple and effective way to protect your health.
We all know the answer, don’t we? You never want to put anything in your mouth that’s not food or drink. After all, you would never want to be sick, right? Well, there’s a reason for that rule: germs.
And it’s not just any old germs: it’s the germs that can make you sick. The ones that go around with us every day and are more likely to cause illness than any other type of germ. That’s why we wear masks — protection against the contagious airborne diseases we might get exposed to on a regular basis.
So will wearing a mask always keep you safe? Not exactly. For example, masks won’t protect you from common colds or allergies, but they can provide some level of protection against other airborne illnesses like influenza and tuberculosis. In fact, some states (like California) even require medical professionals to wear masks when caring for patients or performing surgeries because of the risk of transmitting infectious diseases from one person to another through air and skin contact.
To Avoid Overuse Demands
If people are quarantining themselves, or practicing social distancing, then they should also wear a mask, said Dr. Aileen Marty, an infectious disease specialist at Florida International University in Miami who has studied the spread of coronavirus in China and Italy.
“It’s really to protect you from other people,” Dr. Marty said. “You have no idea who is asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic.”
A study published in April suggests that as many as 25 percent of infected people may not show symptoms, but are still able to spread the virus.
Another reason to wear a mask: to prevent overuse of medical-grade masks that must be preserved for health care workers and others on the front lines of the pandemic.
Wearing a mask may also have psychological benefits, offering a sense of security and control while out in public during a stressful time.

Everyone should wear masks in the workplace
We believe that every single person should wear masks while they’re at work. Not diapers. Masks. Specifically, respirator masks. No, not just to protect against any airborne particles we may be working around in the lab – though we do that – but also because wearing a respirator mask sends a specific message about the workplace culture as a whole: it communicates that you and your coworkers have an inherent respect for each others’ health, and will act accordingly to protect it.
