In 2022, I started a blog. At the time, blogging was in a bit of a lull; people were saying that it was no longer as popular as it used to be. However, I saw great potential in blogging and decided to give it a try. And boy, am I glad I did!

Many bloggers use their blog as a platform to share their thoughts and views on current affairs, politics, lifestyle, fashion, food and drink, travel, or technology.
Why are blogs still making good revenue?
There are a few reasons for this.
Firstly, people are now spending more time than ever online. This is due to the pandemic, as many of us are now working from home and have more free time on our hands.
Secondly, people are becoming more interested in reading blogs as they provide a personal perspective on current affairs and topics. Through the blog, it is easy to give advice, recommend different products, and share your own experiences and expertise on a wide range of issues.
Thirdly, there are simply more and more possibilities to make money. Ads, affiliate programs, and sponsored posts are just some ways in which bloggers can make a good income from their blogs.
Why is setting up a blog quite easy?
Nowadays, many platforms allow you to set up a blog for free or for a very small fee. WordPress and Blogger are probably two of the most popular platforms, and learning to use the platforms doesn’t take too much time at all.
Perhaps even the hardest part in starting a blog is figuring out what topics to post there. For me, the choice was easy because I have been actively working on various businesses online for the past few years.
However, almost every one of us has a subject or thing we know more about than most others. This is usually enough, not every blogger has to be the best in their field in the world. Besides, you can always learn new things during your journey.
How can a blog be successful?
No blog rises to the top overnight. But, there is a common misconception that it takes years to set up a blog before it can have thousands or even tens of thousands of readers a month.
There are a lot of tools available today that help with search engine optimization, finding the right keywords, and you can even outsource some writing itself!
But when it comes to making money, there are options: ads, affiliate marketing, sponsored posts… which one is the right one for your blog?
If your blog is more entertaining and readers come to your blog just to enjoy it instead of getting information, the best way to make money with your blog is probably advertising.
But, if your blog provides information, product reviews, and other help to your readers, affiliate marketing is the best way to monetize your blog. It is possibly the most passive way of making income I can think of.
How did I start?
Simply put: I read everything I could and sought out all the information I could find on blogging.
Finding information is not difficult, but it is much more difficult to find information that is worth believing and that will really help you move forward.
So, I bought a few online courses, watched videos, read e-books and other blogs on how to get started.
I tried to look for fairly recent blogs that were successful because modeling and following them was much more sensible and meaningful than sites that were established before the 2010s. The rules of the internet have changed, and what worked 15 years ago may no longer work today. And that’s how it really is.
Perhaps the single most important thing was that I learned about Google’s operation, rankings, and algorithms. All of this may not be very interesting, but these things are just a must-learn. Besides, who would want to write a blog from week to week without achieving anything?
It’s a good idea to study writing and SEO before you start writing your first post, but striving for perfection and getting too much information will only slow you down. You can always go back, improve old articles, the design of your blog, or your logo, and then move on again.
