South Africa is a huge and diversified country with a variable climate. With scorching summers, moderate winters, and a climate that varies greatly across the country, South Africa is a year-round destination. Whether you’re visiting Cape Town or Kruger National Park, looking for wildlife or wildflowers, trekking the Drakensberg, or driving the Garden Route, when you tours South Africa varies on your objectives. We’ve included tips on local events, as well as a month-by-month itinerary to help you plan your vacation. There is something to do in the region every month of the year, and there is no poor time to visit.

Here’s all you need to know about visiting South Africa at the ideal time of year.

December to February

Summers in this part of the world last from December to February. Temperatures will vary slightly across the country, but daytime highs will be in the mid-eighties, with nightly lows in the mid-sixties. The weather is ideal for going to the beach, and the coastlines are always sunny.

Get to the Cape Town beaches if you want to soak up some rays.

Up the Creek Festival, a one-of-a-kind music event that floats along a river outside of Cape Town is a one-of-a-kind music festival. We Love Summer festival is a fantastic boutique summertime festival in the heart of Cape Town.

From March until May,

One of the greatest times to plan group tours of South Africa is in the fall. The temperature is warm but not too hot from March through May, and the sun never sets. This is the greatest time to come if you want to do some actual exploring without becoming too hot.

While daytime temperatures are normally in the seventies and sunny, nighttime temperatures can drop below fifty degrees, so bring a light jacket to remain warm.

The ultra-chill Cape Winelands harvest festivals are on the opposite end of the spectrum from AfrikaBurn’s crazy bash. When the grapes from one of the world’s greatest wine regions are ripe for the picking, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, and the surrounding area are at their best.

The periods of June to August

The greatest time to go on a safari is from June to August (especially since the bush can get crazy hot in the summer). It’s also the season for the annual J-Bay Open surf competition, where the greatest surfers from around the world put on a spectacular performance.

Even if it’s cold outside, you can easily carry a warm layer and still get out and accomplish anything you want.

The months of September through November

Spring is another one of my favourite seasons in South Africa. The sun shines from Cape Town to Johannesburg to Durban, as temperatures begin to rise into the seventies in the afternoon.

Everything is starting to bloom, the beaches are getting ready, and fantastic festivals are on the way! Rockin’ the Daisies is South Africa’s largest music and leisure festival, held every year about an hour outside of Cape Town.

Of course, it isn’t all about having which is the best time to tours South Africa wide! You must go away from the crowds to appreciate the actual splendour of this unique country.
