Tenacity

Various studies have been carried out on the properties of industrial polyester fiber. Some of these studies have focused on abrasion resistance of textile materials. Other studies have focused on the vulcanization process.

The vulcanization process mainly affects the mechanical properties of the material used as reinforcement. This is evident from the tensile strength and elongation of textile materials. The present study is aimed at determining the effect of different thermal aging parameters on the tenacity of pre-activated high elastic polyester yarn.

The tenacity of elastic yarn was measured using the Zwick/Roell tensile tester. This tester has a 2.5 kN load and a gauge length of 250 mm. Various thermal aging temperatures and aging times were applied on the yarn samples. The results showed that the tensile strength of the yarn samples was insignificant when aged under the different aging conditions.

Dyeing properties

Using a dyeing process to achieve a color shade that is both stable and high-elastic is a challenge. The aim of this study was to develop an appropriate and sustainable dyeing process for bicomponent polyester filaments. The objective of this paper is to investigate and evaluate the effect of three disperse dyes on the physical and chemical properties of PET/PTT bicomponent yarns.

A number of characterization techniques were used to determine the performance of the studied yarns. Fourier infrared transform spectroscopy (FTIR), spectrophotometer measurement, SEM, DSC, and tensile testing were utilized. The GES dyed polyester fabric showed a stress-strain curve. The results showed that the GES dyed polyester fabric lost less strength than the control polyester fabric.

The aqueous dyed Polyester yarn fabric also showed a similar tensile strength as the control. However, the aqueous dyed polyester fabric was also found to be less crease-resistant than the control.
