Two of the most dreaded words that parents of marriageable-age children fear are Mangal Dosha. It is also called Manglik Dosh, Kuja Dosha, etc. Mangal or Kuja or Chevvai denotes the planet Mars. This is the planet of war and is known for its aggression and violent nature. The placement of Mars in certain houses of a person’s horoscope causes Mangal dosha. It can cause delays in marriage, and all kinds of problems in married life, too. It is also believed to affect the longevity and health of the Manglik’s life partner. A Manglik person often has a volatile temper, and they also find it hard to adjust with their partner. For these reasons, people who have Mangal Dosha often face hurdles in getting married, and those who do get married may have a stormy married life.

Some astrologers feel that when matching horoscopes where one partner has Mangal Dosha, longevity has to be given great importance. If longevity is assured, they feel that the Manglik can marry a non-Manglik. Secondly, factors like physical intimacy and progeny have to be considered. In most cases, the presence of children ensures the survival of the marriage. Thirdly, the financial aspect should be analyzed. If this is also favorable, the marriage has more chances of surviving.

How to check for Mangal Dosha

To check if one has Mangal Dosha, one has to see how Mars is placed in the 1st house, 4th house, 7th house, 8th house, and 12th house in one’s horoscope. The Moon sign is considered to check the Mangal Dosha. The potency of the Dosha may vary. One can have high Mangal Dosha, Low Mangal Dosha, or Anshik Mangal Dosha.

In the first house, Mangal Dosha has a serious impact on married life. Frequent quarrels, arguments, and even physical violence or assault are some of the effects.

In the second house, it can cause many troubles in family life. Both the personal and professional lives of the native may be disturbed.

Mars in the fourth house can have adverse effects on the person’s work life. The person may have to change jobs often and also face financial problems, debts, etc.

Mars in the seventh house makes a person very irritable and hot-tempered. They will have excessive energy, which will manifest in the form of aggressive behaviour. They will get into fights with family members and their life partners. They may also have many affairs.

Mars in the eighth house makes a person lazy. They will be careless and reckless when it comes to handling money and property. They may even lose their family property due to their carelessness.

Mars in the twelfth house indicates that the person will have many enemies. They are likely to have mental problems and will incur heavy financial losses.

Some people believe that after the 28th year of age, Mangal Dosha will not affect the person any more. But any Kundali Dosha in a horoscope is always present throughout life. But Mars takes a different form after the person attains 28 years of age. Its fierceness and energy become channelized after this age. However, this is not applicable to marriage astrology.
