The college was established in 1984 with its first batch appearing for the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) in 1985-86 and again in 1988-89 with a total intake capacity of 500 students per year based on a merit list prepared by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The second intake came into existence from August 1989 onwards after two years’ delay due to minor renovation work being carried out within the campus during that period which had caused some delay in releasing student admissions scores etc
