The music world has been walking in step to its own drum for decades, taking most of us with it. There simply has been only one way for an artist to become successful: get noticed by a record label, sign a contract, and let the label manage their career. If there have been some tradeoffs, including the necessity of an artist signing away their rights, it has been the inevitable price of rising to the top. The fans haven’t done too well, either – yes, they have enjoyed the music and had fun at concerts, but with the record label standing between them and the artists, their only purpose has been to “buy the album.” We might say that it is impossible to cut out the labels, that they have become too ingrained in the music industry to be removed. Vuzec says otherwise, and it is already proving that with a little bit of daring, some tech wizardry, and a lot of original thinking, the music scene can be very different for fans and artists alike.

Vuzec is predicated on the idea that music labels are not needed: it has removed them from the equation completely and replaced them with its music assetization platform that allows individual artists and collectives to be their own record labels. In an industry that insists that every artist must be represented by a traditional label to get to the top, this is big news.

This new age of music is being powered by the blockchain, which Vuzec is leveraging to create a one-stop shop that lets artists release their singles and albums to fans on all traditional streaming platforms. The blockchain is also driving Vuzec’s ability to allow fans to share the ownership of their favorite artists’ music, and this is fundamentally changing the relationship between fans and artists.

Vuzec’s platform is a “crowd label” that gives power back to artists while allowing fans to invest in them. Artists do not have to sign away their rights or give up a high percentage of their royalties to record labels. For fans, Vuzec is using the blockchain to tokenize artists’ royalty streams. Fans can buy those tokens, meaning that they ultimately own parts of the albums’ royalties, which could lead to potential profits.

All of this is happening simply because Vuzec decided to believe that music labels were no longer needed. With them out of the picture, new possibilities opened up for fans and artists, and we are already seeing the results in the industry.

Since launching in 2021, Vuzec has on-boarded dozens of artists, some of whom will perform live at its show on June 22 in New York City. The concert represents the first chance for those fans who have already invested in artists to see them perform on stage and support them.

A week later on June 30-July 1, Vuzec will facilitate a two-day Metaverse concert at the Celestial Music and NFT Festival, with fifteen artists performing live. Over the remainder of the summer, Vuzec will release the music of thirty more artists. In the meantime, it continues to onboard artists and collectives onto its platform, including two DJs from Dim Mak Records.
