Whenever we talk about Lord Krishna, we also remember Radha. In fact, many times, we put Radha’s name even before Krishna’s. However, many people wonder why their divine love didn’t get a chance to unite, why Radha and Krishna never got married.
Their love is an inspiration to many lovers and couples. Even if they didn’t get married, they are still worshipped together. Today we bring you the answers to such interesting questions about Radha Krishna.
How Did Lord Krishna and Radha Met?
Once Krishna, when he was four or five years old, went to the field with his father. They were feeding the cattle; meanwhile, Krishna got an idea to surprise his father. Krishna created a thunderstorm and pretended like he knew nothing. It started raining heavily; Krishna went to his father to seek shelter.
Krishna’s father, Nanda, got worried because he had to handle Krishna and the cattle. Then he saw a beautiful woman coming toward them. Nanda asked the woman to help by taking care of his child for some time. The woman took Krishna while Nanda left for home with the cattle.
Once Nanda disappeared with his cattle, Krishna came in an avatar wearing orange clothes, peacock feather on the head, and flute in his hand. He then asked the woman if she remembered him when they both used to be in heaven before the reincarnation. The woman nodded in affirmation; this woman was none other than Radha. That is how Radha and Krishna met for the first time on Earth.
Where Did Krishna and Radha Use to Meet?
Both Radha and Krishna used to meet in Vrindavan. They used to meet secretly when Krishna would play the melodious flute, and Radha, captivated by the melody, came to visit Krishna every day by the lakeside.
It is also believed that even if they are not together or did not get married, they are never separate. Their bond was divine and spiritual, which did not need a physical bond. Hence Radha and Krishna are the ones even if they seem two separate manifestations.
Why Did Lord Krishna and Radha Not Marry Each Other?
Radha and Krishna, the divine entities, need to establish an example that love and marriage are two different concepts. Having pure love is enough without tying the knots, more about the physical bond. They expressed the highest and purest form of love by not marrying each other.
Also, some beliefs say Radha did not want to marry Krishna since Radha was a cowgirl. Hence Radha didn’t consider herself to be a right fit for Krishna.
Some beliefs also say that Radha and Krishna were a single soul, even if they were two bodies. It is impossible to marry one’s own soul, so they didn’t get married. Read more
