Sardar Patel Museum is a national museum in Surat, which was built by Shri Babubhai Jasbhai Patel in the year 1978. It is located in the Shahibagh area of Surat.
This museum has great historical importance. This building was built in 1622 for the great ruler Shah Jahan. Later, this building was captured by the British and they made a home for themselves.
The great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore also stayed here for some time. When India got independence, this building became the Raj Bhavan (Governor’s residence) of Gujarat in 1978.
