Srisailam Patalganga
The main tourist destination of Srisailam, Krishna river is called Patal Ganga. There are two ways to go to Patal Ganga. One in which one has to descend about 500 steps to reach the river.
The other way goes by rope. Going by ropeway is a very thrilling experience. From a great height, one can see the wonderful natural view of the Krishna river,
lush green forest, and Sri Shailam Dam. Punya is attained by taking a dip in Patal Ganga.
Srisailam Dam
Srisailam Dam is a very beautiful place to visit in Srisailam. After reaching Patal Ganga, you can take a boat tour of the river and the dam.
The panoramic view of the Krishna river amidst the beautiful greenery of the Nallamala hills while visiting the Srisailam Dam by boat is very beautiful.
Srisailam Dam on the Krishna River is the second-largest hydroelectric project in the country. The sight of the water falling from the height of 290 meters of the dam in broad daylight enthralls you.
Sakshi Ganpati Temple
Sakshi Ganapathi Temple is located at a distance of 3 km from Srisailam. It is mandatory for every devotee to visit Sakshi Ganapati Temple, one of the religious places of Srisailam.
If you do not visit Sakshi Ganpati Temple, then your journey is not complete. Lord Ganesha is the witness of your journey.
He keeps a record of all the people who visited Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga. This record reaches Lord Shiva.
Chenchu Laxmi Tribal Museum
One of the tourist places in Srisailam is the Chenchu Lakshmi Tribal Museum, located near the entrance of Srisailam.
This museum gives a glimpse of the life of the people living in the forests of Srisailam. The idol of Mata Chenchu Lakshmi is also visible in this museum.
This Tribal Museum contains artifacts belonging to different tribes, their weapons, items of daily use, musical instruments, and many other items.
In this museum, the natural honey produced in the forests by the members of the tribes is collected and sold.
Paldhara Panchdhara
Paladhara Panchadhara is an attractive tourist destination of Srisailam, 4 km from Srisailam. This place is situated in a narrow valley.
Where you have to climb 160 steps. At this place, Lord Adi Shankaracharya did penance and composed the famous ‘Shivanandlahari’.
Here the stream of water continuously falls from the hills throughout the year. Later on, this stream joins the Krishna river.
The water of this stream has many medicinal properties, so many people take its water to cure their diseases.
Hatkeshwar Temple
Located at a distance of 5 km from Srisailam, Hatkeshwar Temple is one of the famous temples of Srisailam. ‘Hatka’ means gold.
Golden Shivling is installed in this temple. A pond is situated in front of this temple. Which is called Hathkeswar Teerth.
Akka Mahadevi Caves
The Akka Mahadevi Caves, located at a distance of about 10 km from Srisailam, are a must-visit place in Srisailam. These ancient caves are located near the Krishna River.
Akkamahadevi was a devotee of Lord Mallikarjunaswamy. He did penance in these caves, hence they are called Akkamahadevi caves. These caves are very attractive and full of natural beauty.
Mallela Teertham Water Falls
Mallella Theertham Water Falls is a beautiful place in Srisailam located at a distance of about 58 km from Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga.
This wonderful waterfall is situated amidst the serene dense forest of Nallamala. One has to descend 350 steps to reach this waterfall situated in the middle of dense forests. This place is an adventure-filled experience for nature lovers.
Shikhareshwar Temple
Situated on the highest peak of Srisailam, Shikhareswara Temple is a popular tourist destination in Srisailam. This temple is also famous as Sikharam.
Built-in the year 1398, this ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shankar. Standing from this temple, one can have a panoramic view of Srisailam temple and the Krishna river.
According to the belief here, by visiting the Srisailam temple from the middle of the horns of Nandi Ji installed in this temple, one gets freedom from the cycle of birth and death.
Srisailam Sanctuary
Srisailam Tiger Reserve, located 30 km from Srisailam, is the largest tiger reserve in India. It is one of the famous places in Srisailam.
It is spread over an area of 3568 square kilometers in five districts of Telangana. Inside this beautiful sanctuary, you can see tigers as well as many other animals like hyena, leopard, chital, chinkara, chausingha, palm civet, wild cat, bear, deer, etc.
Apart from these wildlife, crocodile, Indian python, king cobra, and Indian peacocks are also found here. Srisailam Tiger Reserve makes your Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga trip a memorable one.
