Let’s cut to the chase. There are different types of apartments that you can rent. If you have never rented an apartment before, it can be tough to find the right one for you. The whole process is not as difficult as you may think. This article will guide you through the process of picking out a new apartment.
1. Pent House
The term penthouse refers to the top floor of a building. It can also refer to separate apartments in Thrissur on that floor–as in, for example, in an apartment building or condo with multiple units.
Penthouse pros. If you love the feeling of being on top of the world, you’ll appreciate having a penthouse apartment. And if you have a guest staying with you, they’ll have their own bathroom–a luxury, not all apartments can offer.
Penthouse cons. Depending on where you live, of course, there may be no view to speak of. And while the bathroom situation is good for guests, it could get awkward if you’re sharing a bathroom with your neighbours. The biggest downside is the price tag–penthouse apartments tend to cost more per square foot than regular apartments because they’re so much more desirable.
Penthouse etiquette tip: If you rent by the room instead of by the apartment (i.e., each resident has his or her own room instead of living together in one big space)
1. Low-rise apartments
Low-rise apartments are typically located near the centre of a city or town. They offer a more affordable price than high-rise apartment buildings but have less space and fewer amenities. These apartments are often synonymous with “walk-ups,” which means they were built with no elevator. These apartments may also be referred to as garden-style or courtyard apartments.
3. Mid-rise apartments
Mid-rise apartments are the most common type of apartment in the city, and as a result, they are sometimes also referred to as Main Street apartments. These apartments are typically two or three stories tall with anywhere from eight to 36 units on each floor.
A mid-rise apartment building may be a “self-contained” complex but more often it is part of a larger community that includes both mid-rise and high-rise buildings.
The lower floors of a mid-rise building may contain retail shops, food markets or small offices while the upper floors are residential. Mid-rise buildings are very common in Downtown neighbourhoods such as Capitol Hill and Ballard and in many urban neighbourhoods.
4. A High-Rise Apartment
A high-rise apartment is an apartment building that is over 75 feet in height and usually has 10 floors or more. These apartments can be found in cities like New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Los Angeles, but also in smaller cities that have a population density that allows for these types of buildings. High-rise apartments are also called skyscrapers because many high-rise apartments are taller than 100 feet.
These apartments are usually found in the downtown areas of metropolitan cities.
High-rise apartments are popular among young professionals who work in major metropolitan cities and want to live near their workplaces.
5. Duplex Apartment
Duplex apartments are great for families and single parents because they have the benefits of both townhomes and apartments. These Duplex homes are typically attached on one side by a wall and share no common walls with other duplex units. Unlike an apartment, you don’t have to worry about noisy neighbours because you’re not sharing walls with your neighbours above or below you.
The downside to duplexes is that they are usually less expensive than single-family homes, so they may not be as nice. Duplexes also won’t come with a yard. However, duplex apartments can be just as nice as single-family homes and will give you some privacy on top of it.
6. Studio apartments
Studio apartments are the smallest type of accommodation you can rent. They are ideal for single occupants and couples, who do not have a need for extra space. Studio apartments are often cheaper than other types of apartments, as they tend to be smaller in size. However, this is relative; since studios only house one or two people, they are less expensive than larger apartments that could house several people. A studio apartment may have a kitchenette with limited cooking equipment that would allow the occupant to prepare simple meals. Cookware and basic utensils might also be provided by the landlord/property manager.
The common rooms in a studio apartment, such as the bathroom, living room, and bedroom all exist within close proximity of each other. In addition to the limited space, studios are usually furnished minimally with few pieces of furniture.*
