In recent years, I have made many pleasant connections with the Storz & Bickel Volcano. I believe this sturdy, stainless-steel machine to vaporize cannabis and other herbs is the best – money can’t buy it. Every extended session I used the classic Volcano was memorable and unique. The classic Volcano has always been a favorite of mine, but the price was always a problem. They are expensive and I would not be able to use them unless I was with someone who can afford it.
What is it about German engineering and technology that I find so fascinating over the course my fifty-eight year journey? My Leica M8 classic Leica camera has been my faithful companion since the day I sold my Leica film cameras. Solid brass mechanicals plunge headfirst into hand-crafted, highly polished optics. Perhaps. Perhaps it was my love for German high-powered automobiles. Many of them have been my own, from Mercedes-Benz’s and Porsches to BMWs and Audi’s to VWs and Audi’s. This would be the best path to satisfy my curiosity. It wouldn’t hurt to know more about German technology and their unwavering commitment to manufacturing excellence. Not at all. It was the Volcano Hybrid, which would soon enter my life. Recently, I was in San Francisco to give a keynote speech at The Cannabis Drinks Expo. SPARC is a ultra-fine dispensary. I was there to interview Dr. Robert Flannery (ex-head of cultivation at SPARC), for an article in Forbes Vices. SPARC was asked by Dr. Robb to create a special place in the dispensary’s consumption area. SPARC is in an authentic area, not a touristy part of San Francisco. Keep your eyes on the street in front of your feet, and not your phone. You’ll be glad you did.
The aura changed completely once I got inside, passing the smiling, heavily armed security guards at the front door. It was possible to be in the elegant lobby of a high tech co-working space or, as it has been architecturally referred to, an Apple computer shop. SPARC is bright and cheerful. The table was marked with a reserved sign so I knew that this was my space in the universe. For the next hour at least. A brand new storz and bickel volcano was right in front of my eyes, sitting on the table. It sparkled in the diffused sunlight of SPARC. I took the fine Biodynamic cannabis I had just bought at the friendly counter, and I ground it up for Volcano Hybrid.
I have never seen anything this beautiful in this language. I had only limited experiences with the volcano in the ten years since then, and that was compared to the classic Volcano. The design of the Volcano Hybrid is very similar to the classic. The one with the balloons filled with softly vaporized cannabis is the classic. Although it looks very similar to me, a novice like myself will notice some differences. Storz & Bickel’s hot air fan is unlike any other vaporizer I have owned. Full disclosure: I was so impressed with the Volcano Hybrid, that I spent several months researching it, saving my hard-earned cash, and finally was able to purchase one after many months. It is expensive and not everyone will be able to appreciate the cost of a machine that only costs less than seven hundred dollars. This machine is cheaper than traditional smoking of flowers, if you have a valid medical reason. This is far better than smoking a pipe or bong. The Storz & Bickel Volcano Hybrid can be used for medicinal purposes. It will reduce your consumption by as much as 1/3. There is also the overall experience. Yes, a vaper is effective. A vaporizer is efficient, yes. But it does not capture the essence. Volcano Hybrid vaporizers can capture the essence of cannabis’ terpenes, aromatics and terpenes in a way that is incredibly precise. My throat felt fine, and I didn’t have to worry about any ashes or flames. The Volcano hybrid works efficiently and calmly. The Volcano Hybrid has a gentle purpose.
The Volcano Hybrid’s controllability via my iPhone is what I loved the most. I was able to fine-tune my sessions and change the temperature throughout my session, even while inhaling. It isn’t overwhelming and can be controlled to your desired temperature. Your smartphone can adjust the temperature to your liking with infinite precision, whether it is an Android or iPhone. The Volcano Hybrid is a great way to get wild and stoned. Start slow. Don’t overdo it! These machines are for people who have a serious illness. Please follow my Thai food principle. Thai food is not something you would order from a chef. The same is true for cannabis. It is possible to smoke more but you can also start smoking less, especially when using a Volcano Hybrid. Also, I would recommend starting at a very low temperature. You may not see much vapor at lower temperatures. This is normal. The vapor thickness will increase if you raise the temperature. Keep the temperature at a low setting until you become comfortable with the medication. You can remove the entire assembly (the stainless steel and orange plastic sections at the top), and then gently tap it on a table. Then spin it in your hands as if you were swirling wine. Although it is difficult to explain, it will help you have longer sessions and more efficient. Hybrids also have a quieter fan system which is helpful for partners who are asleep nearby. It’s very quiet. It is very quiet and can be controlled from large clouds of vapor to soft whispers.
Although I don’t use my Volcano Hybrid daily, the whip is what I use for satisfying sessions. The plastic hose attaches securely to the Volcano Hybrid’s business end. You can get really high in just a few puffs of smoke. You deserve the best!
