Shani or Saturn is one of the nine planets in astrology that has a significant effect on the lives of individuals. He is also known as Shani Dev, and people visit his temples to invite the grace of Shani into their lives. It is said that when Shani blesses someone, it has the power to convert even a beggar to a King, and the opposite is if Shani is not in harmony in the person’s birth chart.

Hence whenever it comes to Shani, people always want to have its grace and stay away from its Drashti or sight. This is because Shani’s sight is not auspicious. Hence even in Shani temples, people offer him oil and other items from sides instead of facing him directly.

Shani Jayanti Celebrations

Shani Jayanti gives us a chance to access the grace of Shani and stay away from its malefic effects. The day is dedicated to the birth of Lord Shani, which generally arrives on the Amavasya thithi in the month of Vaishaka, the duration from April to May.

Shani is also considered the slowest planet; hence it affects a native for a long period. He is the son of Lord Sun and the brother of Yama. In many legends, he is also mentioned as the avatar of Lord Shiva.

Generally, people fear Shani’s name and consider it a malefic planet. However, Shani is a teacher who provides the native with the necessary teachings meant for this lifetime. One should not hesitate and accept the movement of time; one should know only when Gold goes through fire and beatings, it becomes purer and more authentic.

The same is the matter with the soul. Each soul has to learn something in a lifetime. Since Shani is the teacher, it takes effect in someone’s chart when they have to receive some lessons.

Shani Jayanti for Remedies

Shani Jayanti brings a chance to the natives to worship the Lord and receive its blessings. Performing a Puja for Shani relieves people from their karma and adds the grace of Shani to their life. Those who have malefic Shani in their Kundali or birth chart should perform Puja in a Shani Powerspot and celebrate the Jayanti.

People also participate in Homas, Oil Abishekam (Hydration Pooja), and other activities to please Shani. The powerful Lord can lessen one’s sufferings significantly.

There are many remedies that one can perform on Shani Jayanti. Since this day is especially dedicated to Shani, performing the remedies brings more success and faster results to the natives.

Offering Oil: This is considered the most effective way to please Shani. As per a legend, once Shani was suffering from painful bruises all over his body. Then, Lord Hanuman lessened his pain by offering oil to Shani, which he applied to his wounds. This subdued the pain of Shani significantly, and since then, offering oil to Shani has been considered a divine practice.

Upon hearing from the wounds, Shani was pleased with Hanuman, and he promised him that from now on, he would not trouble anyone who is a devotee of Hanuman. He also declared that anyone who would offer him oil would be relieved from Shani Dosha.

Hence worshipping Hanuman every Tuesday is also a way to get the grace of Shani other than worshipping Shani every Saturday. Devotees can also worship Lord Hanuman on Shani Jayanti along with Lord Shani.

Donating Black-colored Objects: Another thing devotees can do is donate black things. Black color denotes Shani and Shani is fond of black things. Hence you can donate black grains, black Urad dal, black oils, and more items to the needy or poor people. You can also give someone black clothes, and it would bring the blessings of Shani to your life.

Feeding Black Dogs: Black animal like a black dog also represents Shani. Hence when you feed a black dog regularly or on Saturdays, it brings you the grace of the Lord. If you are offering rotis to a dog, you should apply some mustard oil over it. This will include you in the good records of Shani faster.

Worshipping Shani Dev in Temple: Natives should visit the Shani temple on Saturdays and the occasion of Shani Jayanti. Here they should offer him prayers, oil, Panchamrut, and water Abhishekam. However, do not stay in the direct sight of Shani; always be on the side of the idol, so his Drishti doesn’t get on you.

Offering Navaratna Necklace: People who have been suffering from major ill-effects of Shani should offer a Navaratna necklace to Shani. This necklace is made of nine special gems to offer in a Shani temple. This will help those who have had Shani’s ill position for a long time in their birth chart.

Always consult an astrologer to analyze if Shani is malefic in your Kundali and follow the recommended remedies.
