So, what about the money? What are the highest paying jobs in Australia? Which job is the best to work in? How am I supposed to know what conditions I need to accept?
We will try to answer all of these:
First of all, as always, we will start by coordinating expectations – few people manage to save a lot of money this year, especially if they lived like the so-called king. Australia is very expensive and tempting, so even if you earn a lot, it also flies by very quickly. Even the definition of the work and holiday visa in Australia is to save enough to travel in Australia, not to buy an apartment in Tel Aviv😄. So please, try to forget about the idea so as not to be disappointed.
Let’s start from the beginning
The highest paying jobs in Australia is $19.55 an hour
Every job – depending on your age, profession, and experience – has a variable salary. How do you know what the appropriate salary is for the work you do?
What are the highest paying jobs in Australia?
A normal salary for backpackers with a work and holiday visa in Australia ranges between 20-26 dollars per hour, very much depending on what you work and how you work (full-time/part-time, agriculture/city, number of hours, etc.).
Let’s simplify even more – if you received an offer of 23+ dollars per hour, it’s completely fine, at least for the beginning!
So, all in all, how much can you earn in Australia per month?
Very large, between $3000~$4000 per month. For less than that you probably compromised too much, and for more than that you played it big! It is possible and later I will write down how.
Besides, when calculating Sundays and Saturdays, which in normal jobs such as hospitality, tourism, retail (supermarkets) sometimes gets 2 times (!) it becomes very significant. So, for the month, it comes out in the area of $ 8,000 per month. But of course, more is also possible.
So how can you get the highest paying jobs in Australia?
A few ways:
Professional jobs – if you came to Australia with a profession and you know how to weld, build, use light and heavy tools, guide diving or skydiving, drive a truck, garden, etc., etc. – the amounts that can be made may certainly increase by several meters! In Australia, experience and professionalism are highly valued, and if you have it to offer – Australians will pay accordingly. Be sure to mention it in the posts when you advertise yourself.
Licenses – in Australia, you need a license for everything. Not just any license, a license that fits that specific state. Therefore, if you did a forklift license, for example, heavy machinery, traffic management (lollipop), and such then there are jobs with extremely high salaries in excellent conditions.
Agriculture – whether you have experience or not, working in agriculture is very financially rewarding. First of all, I’ll point out that I’m not talking about picking, but about thousands of family farms that offer housing, food, and transportation in addition to a salary that is usually $24+ per hour. With all that spending less money from the city, on such farms, it is possible to work a large number of hours, specializing in agricultural and technical tools, and sometimes receive bonuses for good work. I’ve personally had the opportunity to work on a seed farm, all I had to do was plow the field with the tractor for 12 hours a day and receive $7000 a month, which is excellent without expenses.
Working two jobs at the same time – if you come to work hard and spend excellent money in the short term, then this is an excellent option to do it. For example, working in a coffee shop in the morning and a restaurant in the evening, or a supermarket on weekends and construction during the week – the combined salaries are excellent and rewarding! A month or two of hard work will yield quite a bit of money.
But wait, what about TAX? Do backpackers pay taxes?

The answer is yes. Until a few years ago, backpackers were entitled to receive all the taxes they paid back, and today this is not the case. The tax is deducted from the salary in the form of 15%. For example, if you agreed to receive $23 an hour, you will be deducted 15% of that at the time of your paycheck and what will go into the account is $19.55.
*Pay attention to check if the employer is authorized to employ backpackers, “Working Holiday Makers”. If not, you will pay 32.5% instead of 15% tax and will have to demand half of it back at the end of the year. (Most employers are like this, don’t worry.
In conclusion
In the end, as long as you have a job then life in Australia is without worries at all – the so-called No Worries. The salaries are received once a week / two weeks at most, living is suddenly not so expensive, cars are relatively cheap and everything is fine. Pay attention to check well about the employer, the conditions he gives and if you are really happy with what you do. Because after all, again, no one will leave here a millionaire. What’s important is the smile and that you did it your way!
Good luck to everyone😄
And with love!
