You might be a good musician, and now you are hoping to start your own brand, but you are lost on how to get started. Well, every musician is there – and fortunately, they managed to make their own band and lead it towards success as well.

Simply consider the music work history of Peter Graigs – a highly acclaimed American musician, multi-instrumentalist, and recording artist who has also been known for his musical talents as the lead bassist for Sinisters Army – a band he co-founded as well.

From a very young age, Graigs had been immersed in a childhood filled with all kinds of music. His interest was closer to genres like rock, progressive and hard rock, and heavy metal, and he spent most of his childhood listening to his father play the accordion.

For years he has been building up his skills, eventually becoming a lead guitarist in his band, Sinisters Army. He has performed with many different bands throughout his professional career, including the Scars of Grace, G13 Band, Trax, and Sillian.

Moreover, he has also performed on many television programs and has had the opportunity to perform in many live concerts in North America at the Spectrum de Montreal, Cote de Neige, and Auditorium de Verdun.

If you have not already started a band before, your first time can be very daunting. You don’t know how to reach out to the right people for the job, or you might not know how to get gigs to get your band’s name out in the world. Fortunately, we have created a small list of things to remember on how you can make a band for yourself.

Finding Your Bandmates

You can’t start a band if you don’t have any members, so this step takes first priority. Traditionally, you will need a guitarist, drummer, bassist, pianist, and singer – but these days, you can make a band around just about anyone. Synth-players, horn players, or multi-instrumentalists are just a few examples of the growing number of roles people are taking on in a band.

What you really need to keep in a band, though, are drum sets and something that can hold down a low end. This can either be an upright bass, synthesizer, or bass guitar. Once you have decided what you need, it is time to hit the streets.

To find bandmates, you need to publicize your need for them – make posters that talk about your music and how you want to make it into a band and spread them around the city. You can also add your contact information on it so that interested candidates can get in touch with you.

Making a Band Agreement

Once you have found the right people for the band and you have decided the name and band sound, the next step is to make a formal agreement about it.

Fighting amongst each other is one of the main reasons why bands break up, so make sure you minimize that possibility as much as possible by writing everything down on paper for future needs.

Recording Demos

If you have the tech, then you should start working on demos. This way, you will be able to send your music out into the world. Gigs will be offered to you depending on if they like your music or not. Additionally, you might even come across a potential label who will want to sign your band up, provided you can capture their attention long enough.
