History of Srisailam Mallikarjuna Temple The inscriptions of the Satavahana dynasty are proof that this temple has been in existence since the second century. Most of the modern additions to the temple date back to the period of King Harihara I of the Vijayanagara Empire.

Goddess Parvati went to pick him up, but seeing him, he fled from there. Frustrated by this, Parvati Ji sat there and Lord Bholenath progressed in the form of Jyotirlinga. This place became visible as Srisailam Mallikarjuna Temple.
