Priyanka Chopra Breaks Silence on Rosie O’Donnell's Apology and That Awkward

Days after Rosie O’Donnell apologized to Priyanka Chopra for mistaking her for Deepak Chopra’s daughter during a recent run-in, the actress released a statement of her own addressing the incident.

To resurrect what has happened so far: Rosie recently issued a public apology to the Matrix Resurrections star, 39, after falsely identifying her as the daughter of famed author Deepak Chopra. In a TikTok video shared over the weekend, the 59-year-old comedian said that she was dining at a Malibu, Calif., restaurant when she spotted Priyanka and her husband, singer-actor Nick Jonas, nearby and went over to greet them. While meeting the couple, Rosie said she mistakenly referred to Priyanka’s father as Deepak, prompting the actress to correct her that they are actually not related.

While apologizing to Priyanka on TikTok, Rosie referred to the star as “something Chopra” and “the Chopra wife.” The former talk show host later filmed a separate video, in which she apologized for the “awkward” incident, after fans in the comments section pointed out that she had failed to mention Priyanka by name in her initial apology.

Now, in a statement posted to her Instagram Story on Feb. 23, Priyanka shared her side of the story, writing, “Hi everyone. Some thoughts…”

“I have never taken myself so seriously to think everyone would know who I am, or my work for that matter,” she continued. “But if you wanted to make a public apology for a very awkward private encounter, I think probably best to take the time to google my name before doing it or even try to reach out directly.”

The Quantico alum went on to note that people “deserve to be respected for our unique individuality and not be referred to as ‘someone’ or ‘wife’ especially in a sincere apology,” adding, “If we can learn to respect our differences in an authentic way, the world we raise our children in, will be amazing.”

Priyanka, who recently welcomed her first child via surrogate with Nick, ended her note by reiterating that not everyone that shares the same last name is related to one another.

“As I’ve said before, not all Chopra’s are related to the great Deepak Chopra,” she quipped, “just as not all Smith’s are related to the legendary Will Smith.”

In an Instagram Story post of his own, Nick, 29, re-shared Priyanka’s statement with the caption, “We’ll [sic] said my love.”

The Home is a new horror thriller created by the writer, director and producer of The Purge franchise, James DeMonaco. Pete is expected to play a “troubled man who starts working at a retirement home and realizes its residents and caretakers harbor sinister secrets,” according to Deadline. As his character explores the fourth floor of the center, he starts to learn more about his past and the people of the retirement home.

Before posting anything to the grid, one of the few things Pete changed on his Instagram account was the bio, as reported by BuzzFeed News.

On Tuesday, Feb. 22, he added a YouTube link that led to a 10-second clip of Rupert Pupkin’s 1982 movie The King of Comedy, in which Rupert delivers the punchline, “Look I figure it this way, better to be king for a night than a schmuck for a lifetime.”

Pete’s fans flooded the comments of the video, which was originally uploaded in 2016, and speculated that his new bio was meant to “throw shade” at Kanye “Ye” West, who posted a series of since-deleted messages about estranged wife Kim Kardashian and her new boyfriend, Pete, earlier this month. Ye has since apologized for his social media uploads.

While The King of Staten Island star had no posts on his fresh account a week ago, his profile pic appeared to be an image of James Stewart from the 1946 movie It’s a Wonderful Life. He solely followed Sebastian Stan and Kim before stepping back from the social media app once again.

One month after Tristan Thompson confirmed he fathered a child with Maralee Nichols, their son’s name has been revealed to be Theo Thompson.

According to the birth certificate obtained by E! News, Theo was born in Santa Monica, Calif. on Dec. 1. While Maralee is listed as the mother, Tristan is not listed as the father.

On Feb. 23, Maralee issued a statement to E! News about why she chose the name for her 2-month-old son.

“Theo, my little angel baby. I named you Theo because it means, ‘Gift from God,'” she said. “I had never been pregnant and had been told I might not be able to have children. I couldn’t believe I was pregnant, when I saw you on the ultrasound and your little heartbeat I knew I would always protect you and keep you safe.”

Maralee said, “I love you more than you’ll ever know. You bring such joy and happiness into my life. My greatest blessing.”

She added that Tristan’s name was not on the birth certificate “because he was not present at Theo’s birth.” E! News has reached out to his attorney for comment.

The same month Theo was born, Maralee filed a lawsuit against the NBA player, in which she noted the baby was conceived in March while Tristan—who was dating Khloe Kardashian at the time—was in Texas celebrating his 30th birthday. In an exclusive statement to E!, Maralee shed more light on their relationship. “He told me he was single and co-parenting,” she said. “I would never have gotten involved with Tristan if I thought he was in a relationship.”

The following month, in an Instagram Story, Tristan apologized to Khloe, who he shares daughter True Thompson, 3, with. (He also has son Prince, 5, with ex Jordan Craig.)

“I take full responsibility for my actions,” he wrote. “Now that paternity has been established, I look forward to amicably raising our son. I sincerely apologize to everyone I’ve hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both publicly and privately.”

However, according to Maralee, he allegedly hasn’t followed up on his word. “Despite news reports stating otherwise, Tristan Thompson has done nothing to support their son,” Maralee’s rep previously said in a statement to E! News. “He has not made any attempt to meet their son nor has he provided any financial assistance.”
