The Public Health Emergency (PHE) has been extended till January 11, 2023. A patient with commercial insurance will not be billed for COVID-19 out of pocket at the time of service, but this will depend on the insurance plan. They can get certain benefits. As a balance after discharge. UrgentWay is speaking on behalf of a patient who is lobbying his insurance company to waive all the costs of his COVID-19-related visit, but will your insurance cover all the costs? I can’t decide. If you have been billed for a visit due to COVID-19, we recommend that you contact your insurance company and explain the plan’s benefits regarding COVID-19 services at the emergency center.
Three types of COVID-19 tests.
- Rapid test: This test will detect whether you are actively infected with the COVID-19 virus. Administered by nasal swab.
- PCR test: This test will detect whether you are actively infected with the COVID-19 virus. Administered by nasal swab.
- Antibody test: We offer the serum antibody IgG test and the spike protein antibody test, which will detect whether your body has developed antibodies to the COVID-19 virus.
What do COVID-19 tests detect?
- Rapid and PCR Tests (Nasal Swab): Detects if you are actively infected with the COVID-19 virus.
- The Serum Antibody IgG Test (Blood Test): Detects if you have had prior exposure to COVID-19 or a COVID-19 infection and if your body has built up antibodies for the virus. For most viral illnesses, a positive antibody test means prior exposure to a virus and possible immunity to future infection. As COVID-19 is a novel (new) infection, it is unclear if a positive antibody test result offers immunity. UrgentWay recommends universal precautions (handwashing, social distancing, and masks when appropriate).
- The Spike Protein Antibody Test (Blood Test): This test potentially identifies antibodies created by you in response to vaccination against the COVID-19 virus. It can also detect antibodies made in response to a COVID-19 infection.
PCR test for COVID-19: Nasal swab PCR testing detects the presence of COVID-19. A nasal swab is inserted into the nostril to obtain a sample. On average, results are usually available within 48-72 hours.
