Early Life and Struggling Period
On the 9th of September,1996, Mahesh Keshwala was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra in a Hindu family. His family belongs to Porbandar, Gujarat. But he has spent his entire life in Mumbai. He finished his schooling and graduation both in Mumbai. He got his Graduation degree in the field of commerce. While being in school, at the age of 16, he started working. It was the desire to buy a new phone which drove him towards finding a job. Due to his family’s financial situation his family couldn’t allow him to buy a new phone. Hence, he found a job at an amusement park. His job was to maintain cleanliness of the rides and taking care of the kids who came to take the rides. With this he used to earn 120/- a day. He continued with this job for more than a year but later on it struck him that he cannot do this forever. Another task that made him leave the job was the cleaning of puke by children on the rides.
Coming from an educated background and being good at conversing in English, he thought he should get a new and better job. After working at the amusement park for 1.5 years, he started to apply at various job openings. Finally, he found a part time job at a call centre. He couldn’t spend all his time on the job because he had to focus on his studies as well. Hence, this part time job worked well for him.
In the course of 1/1.5 years he changed his job at multiple call centres, sometimes managing the front desk, back end, and mainly attending the calls.
While earning 4,500 rupees a month, Mahesh felt that things at the call centre are becoming too stressful to handle. So, he decided to quit and focused on his college life. One fine day, someone told him, “you’re a good looking guy, you should give acting a try!” Since that day, this word stayed in his mind.
Modelling Career
To begin his career, he worked hard on his physique and took part in various pageants. He won a number of pageants at the national level which made him gain confidence. After this, he decided to enter the modelling industry. He worked hard to collaborate with modelling agencies. He travelled for hours in all modes of public transport just to have a 5 second conversation with the agencies. After struggling for some time, he got the opportunity to be featured in LAKMÉ Fashion Week and Pune Fashion Week.
But soon, he realised how ruthless and unfair the modelling industry was. After having bad experiences and unfair treatment, he left it. Refocusing on Education After saying goodbye to the modelling industry, Mahesh was doing LLB along with CS. He worked hard to clear CS. But even after multiple attempts, he couldn’t clear it. Hence, he decided to quit it. Now, he was left with LLB. One day, for a project he had to visit the court. While being at the court, it occurred to him that this isn’t his cup of tea either.
New Beginnings
With nothing left to do, he rescheduled his life. He used to wake up at 5, go for a workout, visit the library and after coming back home he used to make content for YouTube. He already had a channel, but he was inactive on it and later on it was demonetised along with many othe YouTube channels because of the demonetisation issue created by big content makers of YouTube.
Very soon, the world was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. He thought that this is the time when everyone is locked in their homes and content will be consumed by almost everyone. He worked even harder on creating content and in a period of just one month he reached 1 million subscribers. Finally, he was minting money from his YouTube channel.
As of now, he has over 3 million subscribers on his main channel and over 3 million subscribers on his second channel. With over 400 million views, Mahesh has become one of the most loved YouTubers of the country. He’s popular among all age groups because of his funny and non abusive content.
But Mahesh believes that he is not the funniest or the most talented YouTuber out there. In his own words – “I’m not talented but I’m hard working and I believe that hard work beats talent when doesn’t work hard.”
