As a merchant navy officer, I am usually out of home for more than 6 months at a stretch. In my absence, it is my wife who manages the entire household and all other things.
She has been using a two-wheeler for all her daily needs. Recently, while she was returning from the market, she lost her balance when she hit a pothole and fell. While the injuries were not serious, I did highlight her plight and the risks involved in her using the two-wheeler. The moment I got to know of this, I immediately decided to do something about it.
Since her birthday was approaching, I asked my father and my school-going son to suggest me a car that would be ideal for her. After many deliberations and searching, they both recommended me the Renault Kwid.
I looked up the Renault Kwid on internet and also explored it on the Renault car configurator. I was thoroughly impressed with its specifications. Something in my head told me that this was an ideal car for her and that she would love to drive it. So, when I returned a few days later, I decided to check out the Renault Kwid in person before gifting it to her on her birthday.
As I reached the Renault showroom, my eyes spotted the Kwid standing there majestically.
The first thing that impressed me was the SUV-inspired look of the Kwid! Its SUV-styled headlamps and Volcano Grey multi-spoke wheels caught my attention immediately. From the outside, the Kwid looked compact and neat.
But the real surprise was when I stepped inside the car. I was greeted by an LED digital instrument cluster that added to the stylish look. The next thing I saw was the 20.32 cm touchscreen which was extremely easy to handle. But the most convenient feature was the floor console-mounted AMT dial which made the switch from manual to AMT a breeze. I was confident that she would love this Renault Kwid AMT as it would make driving extremely hassle-free for her.
The next thing that amazed me was its ergonomic seats and roomy interior. The Kwid seemed ideal for intra-city as well as long-distance travel with family! But when I stepped out and opened the boot, I was convinced that this was the car I was going to go for. 279L of boot space, expandable to 620L meant that the car was ideal for her to go anywhere with loads of luggage!
When I drove the Renault Kwid AMT, I was overwhelmed at the power its engine presented. Zipping through the traffic, I felt that Kwid was the right car not just for busy roads, but also to fit in my parking slot back home! Also, with 184 mm of high ground clearance, I was sure that my wife would glide over the patches and potholes without a hitch.
Finally, when I asked for the Renault Kwid’s price, I was told that it starts at just Rs. 4.24 lakh* (ex. showroom Delhi). On top of that, the Kwid’s maintenance came at just 35 paise/km. I felt that these last bits of information sealed the deal for me.
The car got delivered on her birthday and when I told her about the special gift, she was over the moon. I was happy that I was able to get eliminate a major problem she was facing when handling everything alone!
