The world is constantly moving away from traditions and creating new trends. But when it comes to construction, though there have been changes aplenty, concrete remains one of the most used components in the field even after ever so many years. This is major because its component materials are easily available around the world. Though concrete remains unchanged in its importance to construction, there have been various developments, especially in regards to it. For instance, Ready Mix Concrete, Volumetric Concrete are amazing inventions made to ease concrete delivery. In much the same way, Concrete Pump Hire is also meant to make concrete delivery easy. And there are various types of concrete pumps that are used according to the construction that is taking place such as boom pumps or line pumps.

Why Concrete Pumps Are Necessary?

Traditionally, delivering concrete within sites has been a very laborious and time-consuming process. The mixed concrete is wheelbarrows and even buckets and then it is carried to the part of the site where it is required and deposited. As simple as this sounds, it is tiring, time-consuming and highly laborious. And even until recently, this method was used in the delivery of concrete in sites that are difficult to access. But with various types of Concrete Pump Hire now available, concrete delivery has just become a lot easier. One of the major issues with the traditional method was the use of extensive labour and secondly slow delivery. It is best to use all concrete as needed at once so that cold joints that are weak can be easily avoided.

Understanding Concrete Pumps

Concrete delivery from batch plants to construction sites often use Ready Mix Concrete Trucks or Volumetric Concrete trucks. But even these trucks are useful only if the part of the construction site where concrete is required is relatively reachable. And this is especially true of ready mix concrete trucks. Usually, the pumps are connected directly to the delivery trucks. The most common types of Concrete Pump Hire are boom pumps and line pumps.

The difference between the two are:

  • Boom pumps are usually attached to a truck or other long vehicles. It is named so because it has a robotic arm that is controlled via a remote. This robotic arm is what is commonly called a boom.
  • This method of Concrete Pump Hire is often used for construction projects that are large and require a large amount of concrete.
  • Concrete Boom Pumps can also deliver concrete in large volumes.
  • The other main type of concrete pump is the line pump. This is usually a set of hoses that are made of steel or other materials that are suitable for concrete delivery.
  • When the extra length is required, the hose is lengthened by the attachment of more hose.
  • The Concrete Pump Hire hose is directly attached to the concrete trucks. Unlike boom pumps, these do not deliver concrete at such volumes.
  • Line pumps deliver lower volume concrete at lower speeds so this is often used for smaller construction requirements.
