- What is Fast Charging?

The total wattage of a charger is measured by multiplying amperage and voltage. The amount of electricity flowing to the charger is amperage and the magnitude of that current is voltage.
In the case of fast charging, the voltage is increased so that the charge is carried out quickly. Usually voltages are increased to 5V, 9V, 12V and more. Amperage can also be stepped up with increments to 3A and above; however, it is not a popular standard.
- How is Fast Charging Speed Achieved?
When you charge your device using a fast charging plug or cable, the process happens in two phases. In the first phase, a high voltage is used to increase the flow of energy which, in turn, increases the charge rate.
In the second phase, that is, when your batteries reach almost full capacity, the voltage is reduced. This is done so that your devices, like your smartphones, do not get overloaded or overheated. This also protects your charger from damage.

Many recent devices incorporate a fast charging circuit. These circuits determine how much power your batteries can absorb. All elements of a fast charging circuit must have the same charging standard to get the full benefits.
There are two standards commonly used by your fast charging battery and other accessories, such as a Samsung fast charging power bank. These are Qualcomm Quick Charge and USB Power Delivery (USB PD).
Slow charging never crossed our minds before fast charging and ultra-fast charging became the norm. Fast charging has become one of the most sought-after features, even when one has cell phones with large batteries that last all day.
To understand what exactly slow and fast charging means requires a bit of science. You will notice that your charger mentions the watts of its power output. This power is calculated based on the amps (A) and voltage (V) it handles.
