Mehrangarh
Majestic Mehrangarh, the fort overlooking Jodhpur’s Blue City, is an architectural marvel. If you get a drone view of Mehrangarh, it seems that it is situated right in the middle of the city. The old walled city and outskirts of the city both can be seen from the Mehrangarh. The fort holds the pride of Jodhpur. It was constructed circa 1459 by Rajput ruler Rao Jodha. Inside its boundaries, it has beautiful intricate carvings and expansive courtyards. There are seven gates– Jai Pol, Fatteh Pol, etc. It also has Elephant’s howdahs, Palanquins, Daulat Khana (Treasures of Mehrangarh Museum) Armoury, Paintings, The Turban Gallery, and Shahi Lal Dera.
Things which you shouldn’t miss:
- As soon as you reach Suraj Pol, you’ll find the hand imprints of women of the fort who performed mass self-immolation, known as Jauhar. This practice was performed by the women, sometimes along with children to avoid capture, enslavement, and rape by an invading army;
- Chokhelao Bagh;
- Sheesh Mahal;
- The shops inside the museums. They have got beautiful diaries, clothes, and perfumes;
- The traditional musicians there can sing in multiple languages;
- The view from the terrace and the eagles there around 3 PM;

Jaswanth Thada:
This place serves as a cremation ground for the Royal Rajpur family of Jodhpur. Located in Jodhpur, it is a cenotaph. Marble sheets are intricately carved into the cenotaph. It has a beautiful garden with a magnificent view. It is also having posters that describe the Royals of Marwar. It is one of the best places to visit in Jodhpur.

Rao Jodha Desert Park:
If you are someone who loves to walk, you’ll love being at Rao Jodha Desert Park. You’ll be mesmerized by the flora and fauna this desert park is surrounded by. This place is having tiny little trails with yellow and green arrows that lead you to a particular height and prevent you from deviating from the track. As part of a restoration effort of the rocky area adjacent to and below the fort, the park was created in 2006.

Balsamand Lake:
It was designed as a water reservoir to provide water to Mandore. Peacocks and other animals roam freely here. This is a popular picnic spot in Jodhpur. The Balsamand Palace restaurant is the perfect place to watch the sunset and enjoy a romantic stroll with your partner. Today, it is converted into an artificial lake.

Chand Baori:
Chand Baori is situated below Rani Sagar and Padma Sagar in the old city of Jodhpur and this area is known as Chand Baori. Chand Baori was built by Songri Rani Chand Kanwar of Rao Chunda. Although Chand Baori is a very small stepwell, it was also a major early water source during the princely period and would have been constructed with the construction of the Mehrangarh fort. There is a famous well in front of Chand Baori, which is called Jeta Bera, whose water has been very famous due to its medicinal properties. At present, a temple and reading room is built on top of Chand Baori. Fort is within walking distance from Chand Baori.
