Cebu City View & Taoist Temple
Cebu Taoist Temple is a well-known religious landmark in Cebu City, built on a hill. It is not a tourist attraction, but it has gained popularity because to its unique structure and artistic appeal, which has attracted even non-believers in this faith.
It has a stunning view of the metropolitan skyline and the blue ocean that separates the capital from Mactan Island. This temple is ideal for those seeking some fresh air and a break from the city.
Naturally, if you practice Taoism, this is an ideal location for you to pray or contemplate about your beliefs and life. If you believe in something other than this faith, please be respectful and behave respectfully in the area.
The 81 Holy Steps ascension
Taoists would undoubtedly understand what the 81 stages mean. The 81 indicates or represents the 81 Chapters of Taoism text, as I just learnt. It means that as you progress through the levels, you will be immersed in the religion’s holy text.
For those who are unfamiliar with Taoism, it was founded or based on the teachings of Lao Tze, a Chinese philosopher. cheval
Chinese traders and early Chinese immigrants to Cebu carried their Taoist beliefs with them and created this community several centuries ago. The Chinese residents of Cebu contributed to the creation of this temple. They are mostly from renowned and commercial families.
What is the Taoist Temple in Cebu?
What appeals to visitors about this site is too unusual to be conveyed in just one or a few words. However, I’ll be happy to describe some of its characteristics only to give you a sense of context.
The height, style, and colors of the main entrance gate strike me as stunning and unusual. Gates with bright red and green hues and dragons, intricate designs, symbols, Chinese characters, and other elements are not common in the province, which is peppered with Christian structures (and symbols).
My recent visit to Cebu Taoist Temple (2 October 2015) led me to this magnificent gate, prompting me to take my first photo of the place. I was so thrilled to have arrived at the location and taken the photographs. Under the shelter of the gate, I inquired of the security guard, who directed me to the other entrance.
Getting to the top of the temple may be difficult if you have difficulty ascending stairs or steps. This is due to the numerous steps required to reach the main temple, which houses the Taoist saints.
The Great Temple
The saints and other religious symbols and inscriptions are meticulously put and positioned in this main structure. The symbols and statues, like those seen in most religious structures, face the worshiper.
Unlike Christian churches and places of worship, this temple does not have benches or chairs; instead, it has small, rectangular-shaped cushions that support you while kneeling (or sitting) to make your supplications.
Above the temple
Another temple is located directly above the main temple. You can reach it by climbing the steps on the right side of the main one, which are on your left. It is smaller and has its own Taoist saint statue (which you are not permitted to photograph or photograph).
When viewing the site from a distance, this temple is the most visible. Written Chinese characters describe the location and whatever it is intended to say on the columns and walls (for those who cannot read or understand the language).
This temple is decorated with vibrant colors and murals that show its religious significance and history. 슬롯 사이트
There are minor worship structures to the right of the main one when facing that direction, in addition to the main one.
The Chinese Fisherman
As you face the temple described above, you will see an outstanding scene on the left-hand side: a tiny pond with a fisherman. Actually, it’s more of an aquarium with a variety of brightly colored Koi fish (golden, yellowish, etc.).
The famous sculpture of a Chinese-looking fisherman attempting to catch fish may be found in the center of the pond or aquarium. Just don’t toss coins in there because it’s against the rules. There’s a spot where you may make wishes and then toss your pennies in!
(Holy) sculptures and wishing jars adorn the structure.
Another modest but interesting edifice with religious statues lies to the right of this small temple (with your back to the city). Water and a number of metallic jars can be found here, where you can throw coins (allowed) after making your wishes. 세부 카지노
Why does Cebu have a Taoist Temple?
The Taoist temple, unlike the nearby Phu Sian Temple, is open to both worshipers and non-worshipers. Devotees perform a rite in which they pray to the gods to grant their wishes.
