Introduction
One of the three programmes that are part of Canada’s Express Entry system for processing immigration applications is called the Federal skilled worker program. Candidates who do not have any links to Canada but have worked in a high skilled occupation in any other foreign country are eligible to apply for permanent residence under the FSW programm.
What exactly is the FSW programme all about?
Candidates who want to live in Canada permanently and participate in the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) programme are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which is handled by the Express Entry system and overseen by the government. In contrast to applicants for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Workers do not need to demonstrate that they have previous job experience in Canada to join the Express Entry pool. Instead, candidates must meet a minimum point requirement based on work experience, language ability, and educational background. After being included in the collection, those candidates whose CRS scores are deemed the most competitive will be sent invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
When it comes to the FSW, how long does it take to complete an application?
A candidate’s profile in the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Express Entry system will be considered active and eligible for selection for one year.
Suppose you are selected from the pool of applicants to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA). In that case, you will have a period of 60 days in which to send the Government of Canada your complete application along with any supporting paperwork.
The typical processing time is six months from an Express Entry application to the Canadian authorities until a permanent residence visa is issued. This period begins when the Canadian authorities receive the application.
Your processing time may also be affected by other variables, including the following:
-
Your application’s level of detail and comprehensiveness, whichever comes first.
-
The simplicity with which the officer can validate the data that you have provided in your application.
-
Including one or more extra members of your family in your application
What exactly is experiencing working in a foreign country?
Federal Skilled Workers are required to have at least one year of continous full-time (or the part-time equivalent) work experience in a foreign country before they are allowed to submit a profile via Express Entry. In addition, work experience obtained outside of Canada that was paid and completed within the prior ten years is considered foreign work experience.
The previous job experience must correspond to the skill types A, B, or 0 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). Therefore, you will first need to locate your NOC code to determine the skill level required for your task.
Is application submission available for the Federal Skilled Worker programme?
Prospective FSW employees may send in their profiles at any time. As well, even though FSW applicants may not be invited to a federal Express Entry until July 2022, provincial nominee programmes continue to welcome candidates for the possibility of being nominated for permanent residence in Canada.
Is there a maximum age requirement to apply for the FSW programme?
Under the Federal skilled worker program there is no upper age limit for applying. Candidates who are older than 30 years old, on the other hand, will start to get fewer points for fulfilling the FSW eligibility criteria. In addition, candidates who have reached the age of 29 or older will likewise suffer a loss of points in the age category of their Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS). As a result, applicants with lower age points may be required to enhance their eligibility points, and CRS score by increasing their score in other categories.
