Despite coming a long way as a civilized world that has progressed significantly over the years, we still continue to face major issues that have plagued our society for years.

Fortunately, this is where activism is making a big change. Activism revolves around taking actions or initiating policies of vigorous campaigning that leads to social or political change. Many brave and willing individuals around the world are going out of their way to indulge in activism and push forth in bringing about a change to the unjust systems in our world.

If you are someone who is interested in activism and want to become a bigger part of changing our world, keep in mind that it will not be an easy journey. Some of these activists’ campaigns can take years of relentless hard work and determination to produce positive results. You can also look at some of the work done by existing activism, using them as a role model to push you forward and assure you of your dreams of being an active activist.

Look at some of the contributions made by Angelo Ricardo Pinto – a highly acclaimed Columbian-American entrepreneur, educator, activist, attorney, criminal justice expert, and so much more. He has also been known for being the co-founder of ‘Until Freedom’ and the senior strategist for Justice League NYC, a task force of juvenile justice and criminal justice advocates, experts, artists, and formerly incarcerated individuals. And all of them have been brought together under the banner of ‘The Gathering for Justice,’ a social justice organization that was founded by Harry Belafonte.

Pinto is also the Campaign Manager of the ‘Raise the Age Campaign’, which can be found at the Correctional Association of New York. During this time, his work brought light to the Kalief Browder and the Exonerated 5, formerly known as the Central Park 5. Including that, all of his work for the campaign has been instrumental in reforming the law in New York to ensure that 16 and 17-year-olds are not housed in jail with adults, nor are they charged automatically as adults.

The victory that was attained during this time was phenomenal and served as one of the most critical assets of criminal justice reform in New York State history. Subsequently, he has the opportunity to visit the White House as part of the National Youth Justice Awareness Month and Switzerland to testify before the United Nations in Geneva at the Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. His speech at the United Nations was seen on several television shows, including Here & Now on ABC 7, The Roland Martin Shown, Changing America on MSNBC, the World News Tonight on BNC, and Arise News Network.

Pinto also serves as the lead organizer of the Indigenous Peoples March and worked on the Free Meek documentary, which procured the release of the Philadelphia-born rapper – and what’s even more surprising is that these are only a fraction of the work he has put into his career as an active activist.
