Effective leadership is one of the major keys to corporate success. Adam Clarke of Macropay shares some insight into what effective leadership is and how it contributes greatly to the success of an organisation.
What is Effective Leadership?
Leadership is about execution. It means creating and planning, securing resources to make sure the company’s vision (or redefining it in some cases) can be achieved effectively with beautiful outcomes for everyone involved – this includes looking out for errors that may arise.
Human resource and talent management is an important resource that a leader should manage. Good leaders know that people are best when they’re put in positions where their skills can shine.
However, there are a few ways to be an effective leader.
Encourage Growth within the Organisation
It is important to be invested in your team’s success and growth. You should act as their cheerleader, advocating for them when needed even if it means taking on some of the burden themselves so that they can succeed.
When we create an environment that encourages freedom and creativity, our employees can accomplish much. It’s important to give them the opportunity for self-improvement by delegating tasks as well as allowing room for improvement in every employee’s skill set; this will help us all grow together!
Train Instead of Instruct
Leadership is more than barking orders. Good leaders know how to show others what’s required, rather than simply telling them.
Leadership is about setting an example, not simply telling people what they need to do. This means that good leaders should show rather than tell; it’s better for the employee if we can engage them in our thinking and have open communication regarding goals and procedures. Doing things with them instead of just telling them to do it, ensures that you can train them. This is particularly critical for the first few months of employment.
Set Tangible Goals
When you want to make sure your employees are happy and engaged in their work, it’s important for them to know what goals exist. Letting the people who will be working under these conditions ask questions about how best to accomplish those objectives can help ensure everyone has clear expectations from start-to finish of each project.
