The first iteration of the iPhone did not have all the features we’ve been blessed with today. Retailed at $499 for a 4GB model and $599 for the 8GB upgrade, the phone offered a 2-megapixel camera and a 3.5-inch screen. Not to mention the phone was especially commended for the then-unique multitouch features.
What has changed?
Could you believe just over a decade ago, we would buy iPhones with not even a fraction of the features we have today? From simple features like copy-paste and modern apps to the drastic shift from 3G to 5G, Apple has come a long way.
The iPhone was originally a planned adaptation of the all-famous iPod, but as we speak today, it is a powerful, full-fledged computer that can fit in your pocket. Similarly, we’ve seen the company make its waves from the ordinary passcode and fingerprint touch ID to the now modern Face ID lock. As far as the outlook is concerned, the company had to switch back and forth between its designs, ditching its iconic metal design and replacing it with a plastic one for the first iPhone’s successor iPhone 3G and 3GS, and then moving on to glass for iPhone 4. iPhone 5 brought back the metal design before glass made its comeback for newer models, which included iPhone 8, iPhone X and iPhone XS.
Right into 2020, the company launched its iPhones with a 5G modem and upgraded its cameras significantly before launching its latest iPhone range, the iPhone 13, in 2021.
