Thinking of kick-starting a cleaner lifestyle this year by going meat-free? Well, switching it up might be easier than expected with the number of dining spots that serve good vegetarian food in Singapore!
With such a diverse selection of vegan restaurants scattered all over the island, there’s never been a more perfect time to choose a healthier lifestyle.
Here’s our rundown of the best vegan and meat-free restaurants in Singapore that you should check out!
1. Pano Kato
Anyone who loves Mediterranean cuisine shouldn’t dare miss out on Pano Kato’s wide selection of vegetarian dishes.
Its menu includes everything, from light dishes ideal for weekend brunch with friends to heavy ones that are enough to keep your bellies full until nighttime. The fan-favourite at Pano Kato is the Spanakopita, a meat-free dish served with fresh spinach, feta, onions, and eggs.
For those who can’t finish a meal with desserts, its homemade Baklava is a must-try! We’ve heard only rave reviews about it
By the way, its owners are the same people behind a popular furniture and homeware store, so the interiors and atmosphere will be another highlight of the dining experience.
2. The Goodburger
Giving up meat when you can’t live without juicy, greasy burgers will be difficult!
Luckily, The Goodburger is here to remind us that going meat-free doesn’t mean ditching the classic comfort food. We made an exception here because it’s not a restaurant, but a food truck, which only means it’s THAT good!
It’s popular for the Impossible Burger that tastes like beef and the Tindle Burgers that tastes like chicken, so there’s no trade-off here. You can add fries, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings to your orders for only a couple of bucks.
Found along Bukit Timah Road, The Goodburger is open for takeaways, but we strongly recommend “dining in” just to get the full food truck experience.
3. Elemen
Another source of good vegetarian food in Singapore that doesn’t disappoint is Elemen. Located along Raffles Boulevard, it’s a restaurant that focuses on serving healthy and natural food without compromising sustainability.
You can say that it’s like any other modern Chinese restaurant in Singapore, but we want to give them more credit than that for their commitment to the environment.
The best thing about Elemen? Except for its five-course and eight-course, no meal costs more than $20, so it’s the perfect spot if you want to eat something healthy but don’t want to go over your budget for the day.
The dishes themselves are quite good for their price. If you want to try its best-sellers, make sure to order the seaweed tempura tofu, spinach mushroom pizza, or peppery shroom rice.
4. Afterglow by Anglow
As one of the first vegan dining spots in Singapore, you’ve probably heard Afterglow by Anglow as one of your friends’ recommendations.
Located on Keong Saik Road, Afterglow by Anglow’s menu features wholesome and earthy plant-based and mostly-raw dishes. There aren’t a lot of restaurants on the island brave enough to serve “raw” meals, which makes this one stand out.
If you’re on the fence about “raw” foods, then allow its raw crispy lasagne to change your mind. Instead of pasta, it uses zucchini sheets and is served with dehydrated cherry tomatoes, marinated spinach, shiitake mushrooms, pesto, and garden salad.
Afterglow by Anglow has a dedicated takeaway menu with meals priced between $16 and $22, that is if you’re not willing to go out of the house.
5. Tea Villa Café
In terms of vegan food variety, we believe that Tea Villa Café is the one to beat! There’s always something new to try with every visit.
It serves a wide range of cuisine, from Mexican and Indian to Lebanese and Chinese-Indian fusion, with vegan and gluten-free options. It’s the perfect spot if you’re in the mood to pig out
with friends (or even on your own).
We admit that its menu can get quite overwhelming, with there being at least six variations of french fries alone. The best thing is, whatever vegan food you’re craving, Tea Villa Café probably has it.
