If you are looking for advice and tricks that help you learn how to dress to see you thinner, you have come to the right place! As much as we strive to follow the last fashion diets and training regimes to help us lose excess body weight so we can wear and feel our best, many of us do not have the time or willpower to fulfill with our goals. Not all were destined to be size 00, and the faster we accept it and learn to love the bodies in which we are, happier we will be.
1) Define your waist:
If you want to know how to dress to look slimmer, finding ways to define your waist is a great first step. opt for high-waisted bottoms made from structured fabrics, tuck loose shirts into pants and skirts, dress with a small belt, and consider wearing girdles under your clothes for added definition.
2) Wear clothes of the correct size:
Contrary to popular belief, wearing clothes that are too big or too small for your frame doesn’t always make you look slimmer. Bulky clothes are more likely to make you look bigger than you really are, and downsizing tends to draw attention to problem areas like back fat and cellulite, so always choose clothes that fit to your size.

3) Choose the right underwear:
When it comes to finding clothes that make you look slimmer, your underwear is just as or more important than your outfit. Tight bras draw attention to back fat, and very tight bras can make you show love handles and cellulite through clothing. Take the time to find the right underwear, there are even more stores that can measure your bust and back and give you the exact number of your bra!
4) Avoid rounded shoes.
While they may look cute, round-toed shoes do nothing more than make your legs look short and squat. opt for pointed shoes as they help lengthen your legs and give the illusion that they are longer than they really are.
5) Wear heels with skinny jeans.
If you’re a fan of skinny jeans but feel self-conscious about the width of your legs, avoid sneakers and flip flops at all costs. You can make your legs look longer by making sure your denim is ankle length (or a bit longer) and pairing it with a sexy pair of pointed toe heels.
6) Invest in shapewear.
If you want to know how to dress to look slimmer, girdles are about to become your new best friend. Most women save girdles for special occasions, but there’s no reason it shouldn’t become an everyday staple. The girdle offers more support than your average underwear, hides bulges and blemishes, and provides an immediate slimmer appearance. In the market you can find countless girdles for perfect coverage from the breasts to the waist, corsets help cinch the waist and accentuate the curves of the hips, and control stockings will slim the tummy, butt, and thighs. There are tons of other body shapers to consider, but in my experience, these 3 will cover all your bases!
7) Dress in one color.
When you dress in 2 contrasting colors and/or prints, the eye is naturally drawn to the area where the 2 meet, which is usually your waistline. This can be a good thing if you have a natural hourglass figure, but if you want to lengthen an already boxy frame, dressing in one color is a simple way to lengthen your body by creating an ample look
8) Cover up with long clothes.
If you live in a cooler climate and want to find ways to stay warm without adding unnecessary bulk to your appearance, long outerwear will help lengthen your silhouette. Pair it with skinny jeans and pointed heels or boots and leave your coat open, or cinched at the waist for a more flattering look when you really need to layer up. And if you live in a tropical climate, the maxi dress or long dresses as I show you in the following photograph make us look taller and thinner; very important wear high platform shoes.
9) Wear clothes with vertical stripes.
It’s no secret that horizontal stripes can make us look wider, but that doesn’t mean you should avoid stripes altogether. You just have to be a little more strategic when using them. Remember that stripes tend to stand out, so if you’re trying to figure out how to dress to look slimmer, opt for smaller vertical stripes in dark colors and avoid dressing in the same pattern from head to toe. While stripes can certainly be slimming, they should accentuate your waist.
10) Avoid pleated skirts and dresses.
While pleats can be sexy and feminine when worn correctly, the moment they start to part and open they immediately add volume to your figure. There are certain things you can do to help prevent this, but many of these techniques have the potential to make your waist look thicker. So, if you’re looking for clothes that make you look slimmer, my advice is to avoid pleats altogether.
