I know you will have many questions when it comes to fish health and the necessity of a filter in the tank. Why waste money on something if you are not so sure about the result, right?

Here I am listing out all the consequences you might have to face if you fail to maintain the water quality in the Flowerhorn tank:

Diseases In Flowerhorn Fish

The dirt and waste products in the tank will affect the health of the fish and bring too many bacteria and parasites that will cause health hazards to the Flowerhorn.

You have to be extra careful with the filtration system when it comes to taking care of these fish.

Poor water quality and the lower temperature invites protozoan like Ick in the body of Flowerhorn fish.

You will have to deal with white spots sprinkled like salt all over the body of your fish. Similarly, you might have heard of fin rot or tail rot that happens due to inadequate water parameters.

Along with these, you have to deal with head in the hole of the Flowerhorn fish and dropsy which can be fatal for this fish.

Fungal infection, white poop disease, and flukes are some of the other diseases that your Flowerhorn fish will suffer from when the water quality degrades in the tank.

Color Fading

Aquarium fish usually lose their vibrant color and become dull when the things and water parameters go south in the tank.

Color fading is common in Flowerhorn as well and this might give you a shock at first. Color does fade while they are resting that’s why it is clever to check the water quality and ammonia level as soon as possible.

If things are great in terms of water parameters and quality, then wait for a while to get the color back within few hours.

Stress

Poor water quality stresses them out and they will try every measure to escape the tank. You may not realize this until and unless they jump out of the tank.

Mental health is as important as physical health for your fish. And the deterioration of mental health will impact the physical health as well as the growth of your fish.

Conclusion

In conclusion, flowerhorn will be a great addition to the tank until and unless you give them a good environment and qualitative water to live in. You will have to install an aquarium sump filter as soon as you plan to keep flowerhorn fish in the tank. Aquarium gets dirty faster due to the huge bio load flowerhorn produce. Hence, you have to clean the tank more often and properly to maintain the optimum water parameters and quality.

Good Luck!!!
